The nine subjects selected were currently involved in a methadone treatment program.  The subjects were divided into three groups: experimental, control and untreated control.  With the experimental group, the stimulus was spirituality. Methadone and spiritual education were combined to determine if the stimulus was helpful to the patient.  The control group was exposed to the methadone and drug education.  The untreated control group was exposed only to its current methadone treatment and basic social training education.
