As a college course, The Theology of Discernment introduced students to the manner in which individuals from Scripture and Christian Tradition discovered God's desires for them. These models of discernment were adapted by students to create Personal Discernment Models for vocational discernment and to answer critical, ultimate life questions. God calls each person into active Christian service, including the service of leadership as a part of God's redeeming act of creation.  The set of gifts God gives to those elected to serve on Session may be used to the spiritual advantage and growth of that particular Session and congregation.  Nine elders spent four months studying Bible passages related to spiritual gifts.
