The writer evaluates materials recommended by James Kennedy's Evangelism Explosion, Campus Crusade for Christ, American Baptists, Southern Baptists, United Methodists, and those recommended by the three major Lutheran bodies.  He demonstrates that many of the materials recommended by non-Lutherans are consistent with the teachings of the confessions while some of the 'Lutheran' materials are not. An experientially oriented four-session course was developed for 42 ninth-grade confirmands and their parents.  Five instructors were trained as small group leaders.  A pre-test and post-test was administered to the confirmands and parents, and a follow-up interview was conducted by the two pastors. Preventable family crises are defined, and a framework for prevention of these crises is described. The study uses questionnaires and interviews to obtain information from patients in treatment on admission, at discharge and following discharge.  The expectation was that there would be a decrease in spiritual experience and religious practice prior to treatment and a decided increase following.  The questionnaires substantiated this expectation. The stages of identity, intimacy and generativity are used as an interpretative schema for identifying the major developmental stages.  The primary tasks that constitute each of these stages were correlated with particular sections in the Spiritual Exercises in order to identify the operative developmental process.  Individuals were directed through the Exercises. the director kept notes from each meeting which, along with the results of pre- and post-set instruments, and the the director's observations of the exercitants in their living and ministerial setting, provided the primary data for the thesis.  The work of Ignatian scholars, and the work of developmental psychologists provided data that was also essential to the thesis development. Study of literature and audio resources on remarriage were also pursued.  Seminars can be designed to help prepare couples for remarriage.  The study discusses design, implementation and evaluation of a 'planning on remarriage' seminar and addresses barriers for doing so in a conservative evangelical setting.
