It will seek to explain the evangelistic efforts that addressed the decline experienced by Calvary Christian Church (CCC), Northeast Philadelphia, PA, and brought the beginnings of revitalization. For many, the commitment to study the ancient text persists in being an elusive pursuit. The hinderance can be described as biblical nescience. Although numerous Christians adhere to religious doctrine, church ordinances, and corporate engagements such as regular Sunday worship, Christian instruction, communion, Bible study, prayer, ministry service, and giving, largely excluded from the framework of faith is Bible reading. Some Christians acknowledge the major obstacle to be a lack of understanding of the storyline. Another challenge for readers is finding relevancy in the text, while others hold to the notion that comprehensive Bible reading and study are the sole responsibility of the pastor and church leaders to guide Christians beyond these complexities and aid future believers to embrace the Living Word. This writing seeks to reenergize and rekindle the importance of reading and having a deeper understanding of the Good News through the use of a biblical plot-line that places emphasis on God’s mission."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129527981703168,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:17:08.193Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T20:09:21Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:21:18Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"ccee7a29-227c-45e1-b9c4-6938a182657a","accessControl_ssim":["fa97241f-0c11-4517-abc2-64ecb6169e8f"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A Training for Missio Seminary Staff, Faculty, and Board of Trustees to Begin the Process of Contextualizing the Move from Suburban Hatfield to Urban Philadelphia"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T20:09:20Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:01:04Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["eaea8191-967b-4e66-93f6-903eb6a8cce5"],"hasLease_ssim":["306cdaa3-3854-485f-baba-9bdfb774fe58"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Missio Seminary"],"year_tesim":["2022"],"location_tesim":["Pennsylvania"],"resource_type_tesim":["Dissertation"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Ryan Nicholas Egli"],"subject_tesim":["Organizational change","Christianity and culture","Christian education of adults","Communities--Religious aspects"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Missio Seminary moved from Hatfield Pennsylvania to Philadelphia in 2019. Research on the subject indicates a widespread de-emphasis on God’s mission within Christian institutions, from churches great and small to the seminaries that train their leaders. This consequentially obstructs the missional development of individual believers, the true units of the Body of Christ, who were sent by Christ to carry out God’s mission and advance God’s Kingdom not only overseas, but in their local communities. Given this stagnant and self-defeating state of the Western Church, a remedy that restores the Church through breakthrough missional growth must be found. For this study, a cross-disciplinary methodology was constructed from the substance of scripture, the unifying lens of biblical theology, and relevant social scientific models specifically concerned with the idea adoption process and the effectiveness of training practices. The research conducted reveals that yes, a focused missional message with a unifying emphasis on scripture can observably improve the missional orientation of believers, realigning them with God’s mission in their daily lives. The implications and applications of the results are significant, showing that all test group participants improved significantly in their missional knowledge and missional postures/attitudes after receiving the big picture message. There were also significant indications that participants were forming missional intentions/decisions that could inform future implementation of missional behaviors for the advancement of God’s Kingdom. This study provides ample evidence that the key to developing the missional orientation and awareness of churchgoers is a big picture approach to the biblical story, which traces the origins and trajectory of God’s mission from the days of Moses to the end of days."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"related_url_tesim":["https://missio.on.worldcat.org/v2/oclc/1252985676"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130006338928640,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:24:44.389Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:26:28Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:55:58Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"9cfc937d-4811-4cac-8a96-5edd8c79a4d5","accessControl_ssim":["0d98bbdd-77f8-4c70-881b-23fa5bae8012"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Developing a vocational theology for the second-generation Korean American at Mosaic Christian Fellowship"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:26:24Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:43:52Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["5294101d-ad9e-4241-be9a-e805a33d9c4e"],"hasLease_ssim":["363eb720-a9de-40a8-8d73-afe58bd320f5"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Missio Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Drew Angus D.Min."],"year_tesim":["2021"],"resource_type_tesim":["Dissertation"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["David Kyung Park"],"subject_tesim":["Korean Americans","Vocation","Church work with immigrants","Assimilation (Sociology)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this project is to examine the effects of contemporary vocational theology on the spiritual lives of second-generation Korean Americans at Mosaic Christian Fellowship. The thesis asks whether the current approach to vocational theology helps this congregation with spirituality in the workplace. The primary research questions areas follows: do the current models of vocational theology help second-generation Korean Americans understand the significance of their vocations? Is it possible that the prevailing approaches contribute to the problems that this group already experiences regarding identity formation? After exploring these questions, the dissertation’s aim is then to investigate the efficacy of a possible alternative approach to understanding vocation for the second-generation Korean American. To support this research, the author conducted a survey of more than fifty second generation Korean Americans at Mosaic Christian Fellowship. Data was also collected from several non-Korean Americans for comparison. Two focus groups, involving fourteen participants from the same church, provided further data. These interactions showed that many of the subjects felt as if they were simply “cogs within the machine” and had a difficult time pinpointing the significance of their work using their current theological framework."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"related_url_tesim":["https://missio.on.worldcat.org/v2/oclc/1252981059"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128200540061696,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:56:02.246Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:25:59Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:32:53Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"e5713c41-9060-4e90-923c-bfb61c005be2","accessControl_ssim":["b60e1ad6-6967-4a34-9ba5-e73eeffbda2b"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Developing A Workshop To Encourage The Ordination Of Pastoral Clinicians In The 21St Century"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:25:58Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:41:37Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["d5d5aaa9-2e65-43f3-8f1d-140f667711fa"],"hasLease_ssim":["8b671968-35dd-447d-bc62-bb5b902301e1"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Missio Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Paul Huang M.D."],"year_tesim":["2021"],"resource_type_tesim":["Dissertation"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["In Gyu Chang"],"subject_tesim":["Health and religion","Pastoral counseling","Spiritual healing","Spiritual life","Psychology"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project is to remind both medicine and Christianity of the urgent need for the reunification of the separated spirituality and medicine in the era of the fourth industrial revolution. This inevitability of change and transition should promptevery active lead pastor to understand that the place you stand in today may in fact be theplace another stands in tomorrow. To be fully cognizant of that reality aids in the pastor’sability to be able to see beyond the present and to begin thinking about and perhaps evenpreparing for the unavoidable future of the present ministry. Pastoral enmeshment and theimproper views of competition in ministry must be countered with a clear understandingof the pastor as a steward who is called to build the Lord’s kingdom, not a personal one.Succession planning, then, must include a theology of leadership development and a clearunderstanding of what a healthy pastorate looks like. There must be a mutual synergy ofpastor and people who can appreciate yesterday and today and yet still anticipate withgreater affection the possibility of tomorrow. This work identifies biblical models forsuccession and offers practical methods to prepare the pastor and people for eventualtransitions.Without attention to succession planning, a church and its pastor succumbs tobeing reactive at best, and negligent at worst, by waiting for a crisis to unfold as a resultof inevitable changes in leadership. However, when a proper perspective of succession isdeveloped for the church and the pastor, it adds stability to the mission of the church andfrees the pastor to willingly give it away at the right time.At the core of this project is the process of the development of a succession planfor the Delaware Valley Baptist Church of Willingboro, NJ in particular, and successionin the Protestant congregational church in general."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"related_url_tesim":["https://missio.on.worldcat.org/oclc/1252970108"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799720694737534976,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:10:03.276Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:43:06Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:39:26Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"7e20b021-ddff-401e-b0d6-df6bef0e26eb","accessControl_ssim":["ae635a28-35a9-460e-b718-704f04939848"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Training and Equipping the Urban Church for Missional Engagement Utilizing Fivefold Ministry Gift Curriculum"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:43:06Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:51:16Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["28eacae7-23f0-418a-9a5b-9291cbeda717"],"hasLease_ssim":["c2155a3b-bcae-4262-9264-1f206c3a3112"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Missio Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Susan Baker Ph.D."],"year_tesim":["2019"],"location_tesim":["Pennsylvania"],"resource_type_tesim":["Dissertation"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Gregory Emmett Bell Sr"],"subject_tesim":["Education--Curricula","Gifts, Spiritual","Lay ministry","City churches","Christian education","City missions"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Philadelphia urban church members may not be receiving adequate training on how to participate in the mission of God. According to secular and Christian research, church attendance is declining along with adherence to the teaching and application of Scripture. Statistical analysis of both Christian and secular research, demographic, and crime data confirm the researcher’s hypothesis that the urban churches of Philadelphia need a curriculum for missional engagement. Model Studies of two other ministry schools were also conducted and critiqued to glean from each institution’s experience. The research, literature review, and model studies were used to determine the best approach to perhaps produce supernatural results in the community. This applied research project examines the impact of a missional engagement curriculum designed for laypersons within a Philadelphia urban church, on the fivefold ministry gifts, also referred to by the writer as the five apportioned gifts of Christ. Scripture and other Christian literature were carefully examined to ensure understanding and acceptance of the gifts for today in the body of Christ. The students were taught how to function in their gift as part of a fivefold gift ministry team and complete a ministry project at the end of the semester."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127159703601152,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:39:29.627Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:40:13Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:08:59Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"458ff3ba-adf9-4e7c-9c77-5fec9e815185","accessControl_ssim":["b6b4face-1e69-4881-98e3-6670504abd36"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The development and testing of a curriculum for inquiry-based leadership in the Ecclesia Network for the advancement of God's mission"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:40:12Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:09:15Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["b60283da-a813-4ee4-8c89-9e8fd1fafdee"],"hasLease_ssim":["4e6cf44d-aec5-4499-aabf-87ee7cca63e9"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Missio Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Derek Cooper Ph.D."],"year_tesim":["2019"],"resource_type_tesim":["Dissertation"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["James Rodney (J.R.)
