The thesis was that a selected group of students could be taught concepts of strategy planning and a theology of missions, and then write a missions strategy for the DBU family.  Eight student leaders participated in seven ninety-minute sessions about the role of missions in a Christian's life.  The result of the project was a written strategy to engage the Dallas Baptist University family to understand the biblical basis of missions and their role regarding home and foreign missions.  The process involved researching the history of missions at DBU, training in the biblical basis of missions, and casting a vision of opportunity for DBU in missions. The director trained the students in strategy development and the principles were applied to produce a written strategy. To implement the strategy a variety of tasks had to be accomplished:  the development of a study guide for use in a discovery workshop, the completion of ministry descriptions for positions in the church, the development of self-assessments, and the training of laity to conduct post-workshop interviews for referral and placement. The goals of this project were:  (1) to lead a selected group to understand the grief process; (2) to assist the selected group to enhance their counseling skills in the grief process; and (3) to enable the selected group to develop a one-year plan to counsel persons in grief.  The project methodology included lectures, videotapes and audiotapes, case studies with role-plays, varied visual learning experiences, and cognitive knowledge tested by group game competition.  All of the preceding procedures and techniques occurred during the eight training sessions. The project consisted of research into the subject of teams from both a secular and church-related perspective.  The role of part-time staff in the local church was also researched.  A series of eight equipping sessions were planned and conducted to equip the staff in accomplishing team-based ministry.  Averaging one hour in length, the equipping sessions dealt with the following areas: introduction and theological basis for team-based ministry, covenanting, vision-casting, culture-creating, collaborating, trusting, empowering, and learning.  The project was evaluated through various methods by participants, the project director, the project director's field mentor, professional educators, and the project director's faculty advisor.
