This project analyzes and explores the use of Thomas Groome's shared Christian praxis as an approach to teach an introductory church history course. Church history as faith story can formulate Christian self-understanding (Malaysian Christian self-understanding). An introductory church history course syllabus based on shared praxis was designed and taught. The project is limited to funding the local church, while recognizing that stewardship includes the totality of life in response to God as Creator and Redeemer. The study includes an overview of the history of church funding, an analysis of current funding programs, and a comparative inquiry of local churches, ministers and funding practices in the North Texas Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church.
