Women from the area of greater Trenton, New Jersey, between the ages of 25 and 39 who are not active in church are enlisted as a focus group.  The group format includes guided meditation, personal drawings of God images, and a survey to compare narrative information from women no longer active with that of women currently active in a United Methodist congregation.  The project does not establish a link.  Both focus groups express dissonance with the church's God images while maintaining continuous internal God-imaging. By integrating feminism, object relations theory, and theology a theory is created which evaluates the meaning of females' traditional Christian faith as that affects psychological development. A parallel is drawn between cultural gender definitions and male god representation functions. The purpose of the practicum was to provide a setting in which counseling skills would be improved and in which awareness of women's experiences would be increased.  The project provided an opportunity for reporting the practicum findings and incorporating this information into theological reflection.
