In the development of the course, a process theological perspective was used and theoretical perspective developed by Malcolm Knowles.  The materials presented were prototypic affirmations from the scriptures; the Apostle's Creed; contemporary creeds in global context; and personal and corporate statements of faith in the local church. The study extended over an eight week period in an effort to determine how well persons who participated in the groups, who also contributed to the sermon preparation, understood the message and text that was used as the basis for the sermon. An examination of the curriculum known as 'Disciple: Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study' suggested that this Bible study would address many church renewal concerns. The practicum was designed as an evaluation of Disciple which would be accomplished through its use in the candidate's parish and a series of twenty-seven interviews. Twelve marriage enrichment sessions were designed and facilitated.  Through research it was discovered that the biblical goal for marriage is a growing intimacy.  It was then assumed that this goal is achieved through responsible communication. It was also assumed that responsible communication can be effectively learned through the dynamic process of experiential learning using a special form of communication known as couple dialogue.
