The writer first reported in the thesis various ways a minister could locate sermon illustrations from publications and personal life experiences.  Second, the author presented methods to catalog sermon illustrations for future use; that is, to catalog by subject or lectionary topics.  Third, the author presented forty criteria to be observed on how to best select and use a particular illustration in a sermon. It is intended to facilitate: 1. the identification and affirmation of personal values and strengths, and 2. the development of one particular resource which will inform intentional church planting. The study reviews both Jungian typology, upon which the MBTI is based, and the instrument itself. Application of type awareness is related to the preparation, presentation, and evaluation of sermons.
