Chapters I, III-IX present the handbook that is used in an adult education course in two separate Presbyterian churches in Omaha, Nebraska.  Chapter II describes both field tests.  Pre- and post-evaluations measure the information learned and the appreciation gained for what Presbyterians believe and practice. The project reviews the biblical, historical, theological, administrative, and modern-day applications of this doctrine.  The author interviews lay and clergy staff and distributes questionnaires to congregations at six midwestern Presbyterian Churches.  The conclusions of the project and demographic studies show that the trend towards more paid lay church staffs will accelerate. This project points out the misuse of hymns in worship. Korean ministers do not know much about church music, worship hymns, gospel hymns and gospel songs, or about the relationship between hymns and theology. Missionaries to Korea used many gospel hymns to spread Christianity. The theory is tested in the Presbyterian Church of Australia in the state of New South Wales.  Data for the study is obtained by a mailed questionnaire and is analyzed with the SPSS-X.  Results indicate a strong trend toward conservatism/fundamentalism.  More conservative ministers experience the highest levels of conflict with laity and non-church people. The research involves pastors of the Parramatta/Nepean Presbytery.  Methods include personal and group discussion and questionnaires.  The results indicate that pastors are in need of pastoral care and that mateship is an acceptable model for such care. The project establishes support groups from which pastors are able to choose mates for mutual pastoral care.
