For this reason ministerial training programs do not reflect a strong prophetic dimension. Rather, they show a strong bias toward the priestly perspective. The methods of the study are 1) a review of literature in priestly and prophetic ministry, supervised pastoral education, values, the effect of secularism on ministry, the need for balance in ministry; 2) a survey of value attitudes in seventy SPE supervisors; 3) an analysis of data from the survey. The project concludes that more balance is evident between the priestly and prophetic strains in the values and attitudes of SPE supervisors than was originally premised."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["38714359-d032-4ed0-ae3f-cb82c8f65a92"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799719094924083200,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:44:37.575Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:13:13Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:37:22Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"0382c1df-bbc3-408f-a91a-ead592b21598","accessControl_ssim":["90cfd5d5-9b4f-4752-aa68-fa6f35189fcb"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Preparing couples for marriage as covenant commitment: a program of professional-lay cooperation"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:13:12Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:13:22Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["b087217a-66dc-4eda-898c-1e36745940bf"],"hasLease_ssim":["6368436c-01ab-4da1-9e25-b4f38bd5580b"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Timme Helzer"],"year_tesim":["1987"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Randolph Terry Riggs"],"keyword_tesim":["Religious surveys"],"publisher_tesim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Laity Concerned","Covenants--Religious aspects--Christianity","Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)","Clergy","Marriage counseling","Divorce"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project 1) reviews the literature of sociology and developmental psychology in relation to the erosion of marriage commitment; 2) reviews the literature of covenant with special attention to the concept of marriage as covenant; 3) reports the results of a questionnaire survey examining the marriage preparation practices of 173 Presbyterian clergy; and 4) reviews the literature of marriage counseling for the most common problems faced by couples in the first two years of marriage. Through the use of surveys and in-depth interviews, the project identifies four pivotal areas where deacons appear to flounder: 1) biblical-historical roots; 2) understanding their role as 'the Body' of Christ; 3) servanthood; 4) purposeful organization. It begins with background information regarding population statistics, physical, psychological, behavioral and spiritual characteristics and living situations of older persons. The author reviews sections of Luke and suggests insights regarding spiritual meanings of the texts for the two populations. She reports on 'Spirituality and Aging' projects with older persons from each population. She responds to the questions regarding spiritual implications of the characteristics of the two populations. She finds that Scripture is meaningful to the two populations and that they benefit from projects like those she develops. The author offers her reflections as a prelude to a spirituality of aging, as insights for ministers and older persons and as encouragement to older persons."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["38714359-d032-4ed0-ae3f-cb82c8f65a92"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799716818459295744,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:08:26.569Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:12:18Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:24:56Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"6c6218bf-0006-4582-8634-758262a060c2","accessControl_ssim":["1f959eb8-038c-493a-a994-1a440d6386ae"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The solidarity of the eucharistic community throughout the world"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:12:17Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:18:15Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["6194754f-c26f-47c4-88b6-093df42ee1fc"],"hasLease_ssim":["a1c7d14e-a383-4a1f-b46c-428e83791102"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["William B Oden"],"year_tesim":["1987"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Robert L Larsen"],"publisher_tesim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Church work","Baptism, Eucharist, and ministry"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project covers the scriptural background of the Lord's Supper and its historical development in the Christian tradition. It focuses on the eating experiences of Jesus and the spirit of his ministry. It concludes that communion should be open to all, especially since it proclaims His death which was for all. Eating together should give us a sense of solidarity with our sisters and brothers throughout the world and identify us with their sufferings and joys. The project contains recent Eucharistic liturgies, many of which are from Third World countries. It includes an extensive bibliography and the text of the author's 'Solidarity Liturgy' which is espescially appropriate for World Communion.
