Interviews with forty-four Homestead Presbyterian pastors and spouses revealed that their marriage relationships were generally healthy, and that where problems arise the causes are seldom from the clergy job or other external forces, but stem principally from internal attitudes and expectations of self and others.  From the studies a manual was written to provide guidance to committees on ministry in the Presbyterian Church (USA) in nurturing and supporting pastors and spouses. Research was made into the biblical and theological dimensions of pluralism, and the types, problems and needs of minority groups in the school.  A report to college authorities recommended educational strategies, and approaches in worship, religious activities and pastoral care. The strategy's theological foundations are based upon certain insights from political theology.  An empirical survey provides the basis of its applicability to the Australian context.  The strategy combats the privatistic and sectarian tendencies within Australian church life and ministry by suggesting a reformist approach to ministry by which the critical and prophetic dimensions of ministry can be integrated into the total ministry of local congregations. Theological expression must provide positve ego fulfillment in order for the church to be what God intends. The conclusion of the study shows that process thinking, inductive reasoning and faith development research provide the basis for a dynamic Christian community. After defining prayer as a receptive mode of consciousness akin to meditation, prayer is further categorized into three levels: detachment prayer, dialogue prayer and discovery prayer. Each is related to both Christian tradition and the experiences of 'runner-prayer-ers'.  Subsequent chapters deal with such subjects as holistic health, auto-hypnosis, the runner's 'high,' journal writing and personality changes. The fourth contribution to the field of narrative theology and preaching is that the author provides, for the first time, feedback on how narrative sermons are heard and understood by congregational members. The author includes a study of attitudes toward persons with disabilities, and two questionnaires.  Some pastoral care theories and practices are reviewed.  Conclusions are affirmative of contributions made by pastors with disabilities.  Those who have 'been there' do create a better sense of rapport with clients or parishioners going through painful life experiences.
