The researcher devised an eight week support group with two major goals in mind: 1) To help parents understand and work through grief that accompanies parent-child separation.  2) To assist parents in long distance parenting.  The theological research identified major motifs of separation in both the Old and New Testaments.  The study sought to construct a theology that engages the reality of separation within the context of creation and covenant.  The social/psychological research focused on Bowlby's process of mourning and Bloom's stages of bereavement as applied to the parent-child relationship. Also Bridges work on 'transitions' helped to reveal the perilous passages one negotiates in life. The project utilizes four research methods: survey, interview, pretest and posttest analysis, and a five session study on baptism.  Chapter one outlines the project's goals, the methodologies that assess these goals, and the setting for the project.  Chapter two contains a biblical and historical overview of the rite of baptism.  The third chapter looks at cultural trends and dynamics that affect Middleburg Baptist Church. Chapter four analyzes current baptismal beliefs and practices within the church.  Chapter five presents conclusions and evaluations.  The project concludes that believer's baptism by immersion best reflects the biblical, historical and theological history of Christian baptism.  It also affirms that this practice is not without exceptions. Chapter 2 presented a biblical and theological support for developing a mission strategy using Old and New Testament perspectives.  Chapter 3 contained the social and cultural rationale for developing a mission strategy.  The need for a mission strategy was based on the climate of our culture and our calling as Christians.  Chapter 4 outlined the process of developing the mission strategy in the context of Faith Baptist Church. This project examines the biblical and theological foundations of the local church and examines the social and psychological factors necessary when developing new ethnic missions.  These factors were discussed in Chapters 2 and 3. Church planting is a process whereby a church is planted by a local church through a cooperative endeavor of a pastor, members of the local church and the Holy Spirit.  To strategize about church planting, a Mission task Committee, consisting of eight pastors, was organized.  Chapter Four presented a synopsis of seven seminars on various biblical and theoretical principles for church planting. Chapter five evaluated the methodology used in planting ethnic ministries. Chapter 2 presented an overview of God's desire to find a channel through which He could be a blessing to all the people of the world.  God first called Abraham with a promise that through his blessing, he could be a blessing to all the people of the world. Next God called the people of Israel. When it failed to fulfill the covenant, God established the Church, and the people of God became anyone who would accept the covenant of passing on the blessings of God. The goal was to reach, evangelize and assimilate nonchurched nonbelievers in our area. We examined and evaluated our Sunday morning worship service. We developed procedures that ensured teams trained in Evangelism Explosion visited all Sunday morning worship and Sunday School guests and prospects.  The emphasis of these visits was evangelism and enrollment in Sunday School.
