The project explores biblical principles of prayer related to the saved and the unsaved.  Eight people from the congregation will be asked to be a part of a prayer task force for thirteen weeks.  The prayer task force will study biblical principles of prayer and outreach, keep a prayer journal, develop prayer partners, and participated in selected prayer activities.  A pre-test and post-test will measure understanding of prayer, spiritual growth, and witnessing activities. The New Age religious emphasis upon channeling will be contrasted with the Christian worldview and a method of pastoral ministry consistent with the polity of a Baptist church.  The purpose is to make a Southern Baptist congregation aware of the challenge of New Age channeling and to teach the congregation, through a selected study group, how to respond to the challenges of New Age theologies and why the response is necessary.  First, the project will focus on familiarizing the participant group from the Calvary Baptist Church of Inola, Oklahoma, with the claims of channeling.  Second, the project will endeavor to develop a faithful biblical hermeneutic so that the study group can respond to these claims. Ultimately, the combined purpose is not only to understand, but also to be able to answer the treat presented by channeling to the Christian church. This generation, known as Generation X, is vastly different from its predecessors and presents a great challenge to the church which is just now beginning to embrace the differences presented by the Baby Boomer generation.  Generation Xers challenge the church to show the validity of Christianity in this world.  They reject traditional institutions and beliefs while they become more and more skeptical of all truth claims.  This project will seek to train a group of Christians, members of Spring Creek Baptist Church, to share the gospel effectively in personal witnessing encounters with members of Generation X. This goal will be accomplished by teaching sessions which focus on the dynamics of Generation X combined with practical, on-the-job, witnessing experiences.  These Christians will be challenged to reach individuals who fall into this age group and cultural worldview. The changes that take place during the adolescent years affect not only the adolescent but the parents as well.  This project will equip parents to face the often turbulent adolescent years with confidence.  The project will be accomplished by enlisting parents to meet once a week over a period of ten weeks for one hour each time.  Parents will demonstrate their understanding of some of the issues that confront adolescents and parents during the adolescent years.  This will be accomplished by identifying areas of need in their own family, understanding the roles and responsibilities of training adolescents, discovering ways of improving the parent/adolescent relationship, and by evaluating parental influence in the home. The adolescents of the parents in the control group will also be involved in a separate three week session. Primera Iglesia Bautista is a mission of First Baptist Church of Dalhart.  The target group of the mission is Hispanic persons.  The project will be conducted in three phases.  During the four-week church preparation phase the mission will be introduced to the concept of home cell groups and will be led to approve this approach to ministry.  During the three-week leader preparation phase, leaders will be enlisted to lead three home cell groups, locations will be secured, and the leaders will be trained. During the implementation phase three home cell groups will be started, and their progress will be monitored over a six week period.  Monitoring will include weekly supervision meetings with the pastor and cell group leaders. The goal is to involve in home cell groups adults or youth that are not now involved in Sunday School.
