From 300 pages of verbatim transcripts of these meetings, six themes emerge: loss, longing, search, journey, connection, new life. The project applied hermeneutical phenomenology strategy to data gathered from interviews with participants, identifying six hope themes: absolute, promise, inner-voice, well-spring, diminished-future, new-us. The stories display the dynamic structure of the traditional doctrine of the Trinity. The author proposes that the fundamental secular belief that there is no external being called 'God' is consistent with the underlying assumptions of contemporary western culture, and must be seriously addressed by the religious community if evangelism of our culture is to be effective. Initially 28 people wereinterviewed twice, subsequently 6 people were studied in depth.  The results confirmed a relationship between doubt causation and principal other in one's past.  The project explored the relationship between doubt types (rational, emotional and unconscious) and doubt causation.
