In multiple, in-depth interviews with 23 mission leaders from 13 different mission agencies this project probes differences between boomer missionaries and the previous generation (limited-time commitment, participatory leadership style, personal development a high priority, family needs determine placement) and examines how these differences have changed the way missions function today. Both members of the generation and their observers and critics are used as resources.  Based on these and the author's own case studies, a proposal is presented regarding long-term counseling of this age cohort. The post-war generation is found to be in mid-life crisis and very open to and in need of spiritual guidance.
