The chaplain conducted a pre-test spiritual assessment, three months of spiritual intervention, and a post-test spiritual assessment. The initial spiritual injuries scores were documented; then the chaplain provided spiritual intervention group therapy, individual counseling, and chapel services to address the patient's spiritual injuries and move the patient toward a spiritual awakening and increased sobriety. The author served on the pastoral care staff of St John's Regional Medical Center while he developed the material in the project.  The project will be used as material for teaching an internship program for students interested in the work of a hospital chaplain.  The students will work in the hospital with the author.  Subjects considered in the project are: the hospital chaplain, the patient, the patient's family, and the medical staff.
