The program was evaluated on the basis of three identifying marks of discipleship set forth in the gospel of John: abiding in Jesus' word, loving one another, and bearing fruit. An evaluation team was formed from church leadership to survey Sunday school participants to determine the program's effectiveness in terms of the above three distinctives. purpose of this project was to design an adult ministries model for Covenant Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, Alabama, that would assimilate and provide pastoral care for its members. This project proposes an assimilation plan based on adult Sunday school classes reorganized into life stage communities. These communities will provide a network of care and ministry. Eleven classes were involved. Two of the classes were chosen to pilot the plan. Of the remaining nine classes, six embraced the plan in a limited manner and three resisted change.
