In multiple, in-depth interviews with 23 mission leaders from 13 different mission agencies this project probes differences between boomer missionaries and the previous generation (limited-time commitment, participatory leadership style, personal development a high priority, family needs determine placement) and examines how these differences have changed the way missions function today. Among them are three large and well-known churches--Nairobi Pentecostal Church, founded by Canadian missionaries; St Andrew Presbyterian Church, founded by Scottish missionaries; and All Saints Anglican Cathedral, founded by English missionaries.  While elite, multiethnic Christian national members of these churches, many of whom are beneficiaries of the long missionary presence, begin to catch the missionary vision, it is necessary to explore and examine, on the basis of Christology, some of the factors that have kept them from a missionary vocation. The church does not consistently and devotedly follow the Lord.  Revival is thus a corrective step on God's part. The renewal conditions of 2 Chr 7:14--humility, prayer, seeking God, and repentance can be applied to Christians today.  The concept of revival was studied in a small group setting.  The conditions of revival in 2 Chr 7:14 were examined in a series of sermons.  The study and messages resulted in a clearer perspective on the need for and nature of revival. Research was in biblical studies, theology of mission, and case studies of a changing trend around the world in both theological education and missionary training, especially in Two-Thirds World nations. The fields are ripe for harvest but also infested with scientific, secular, cultic and occultic problems.  There are also competing saviours, different gospels, syncretistic approach to religions and perplexing theological controversies regarding signs and wonders and holistic ministry.  Hence, it is important to heed the call of David L Larsen that the 'evangelical in-roads are at risk and must be protected.'  To do this, an evangelist must have a clear biblical perspective of the call and nature of his commitment.  The changing world view of his own multi-religious mosaic against the Christian world view must be understood, in order to effect a total transformation in experience, and its expression in the cultural and social context of the converted. Also of importance is the virility and vitality of character and spiritual aspect of the evangelist.
