To help address these concerns, a leadership retreat was designed and implemented that used Appreciative Inquiry (AI) as a process to help the leadership team develop a clear vision for outreach to the community of Oakville. There were seven leaders who participated, and the outcomes of the retreat were analyzed. The project was aimed at facilitating the development of leadership team vision for the residents living in this community. Using AI processes, the leadership team looked at the vision for the Oakville community, developed a vision statement and committed to designing ways to serve the community needs. Findings from the research project indicated that participants developed a vision and a mindset to explore new possibilities to make an impact on the Oakville community."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Tyndale University"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["602e7e7c-0b8b-4e09-af87-84c66ff49c48"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133579014569984,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:21:31.559Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T20:01:36Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:21:52Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"79894e29-46f5-4f12-8fce-ee7be3cf60be","accessControl_ssim":["6ef33292-7cbc-40c6-ac4a-ee77fb26d4c1"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Contextualizing and Testing the BELLS Model in a Missional Community in a Canadian Diaspora Chinese Church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T20:01:35Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:42:29Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["81b6dfc7-97ee-43d1-bbef-5ac0c166ed80"],"hasLease_ssim":["d8c8e39a-213d-441d-9be1-01b4448180e1"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"discipline_tesim":["Leadership"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Tyndale University"],"advisor_tesim":["Bill Thornton D.Min."],"year_tesim":["2022"],"location_tesim":["China"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. This portfolio is composed of three major parts: a Personal Narrative and Ministry Context (Chapter 2), a Philosophy of Christian Leadership (Chapter 3), and a Field Ministry Project (Chapter 4). In Chapter 2, the author uses a narrative approach to describe how becoming a Christian not only profoundly changed his worldview and values but also focused his leadership philosophy from being power-based to service-based. In Chapter 3, through a literature review, the author elaborates on what servant leadership really means and argues that it should be a distinguishing feature of Christian leaders. In Chapter 4, the author explores whether or not the hands-on inquiry learning of the BELLS model in a missional Chinese church community context increased both participants’ missional awareness and the church’s willingness to reach people with the gospel in a culturally appropriate way. This exploration was conducted through a series of in-person and online gatherings, interviews, and weekly practices of BELLS in a missional community format. The author uses the BELLS model, the missional community strategies, and his own ecclesiology, missiology, and Christian leadership philosophy to guide the entire research project. Qualitative research data was collected and analyzed through interviews with seven participants, weekly DNA (Discipleship, Nurture, Accountability) Forms, and the author’s own participatory observations during in-person gatherings and online discussions. The results of the research project indicated that the practice of the BELLS model helped increase most of the participants’ missional awareness and passion for evangelizing their Chinese compatriots. It also helped most of them to live out their belief in the cultural context of the Chinese diaspora."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Tyndale University"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["602e7e7c-0b8b-4e09-af87-84c66ff49c48"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133605268815872,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:21:56.597Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:44:17Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:24:21Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"c1864e1f-a759-48a5-8eba-b40542dea425","accessControl_ssim":["d5eb2b03-6fe2-47b8-b5ff-c6cd87214bb4"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Developing leadership capacities for a post-Christendom context: implementing and evaluating a missional change process with Mennonite pastors"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:44:16Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:41:31Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["f23bf08d-70f5-4452-9f69-79dbf427eb6d"],"hasLease_ssim":["80106ddf-5bbe-4e4f-89d5-9224cb41e970"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Tyndale University"],"advisor_tesim":["Gordon Finlay"],"year_tesim":["2015"],"location_tesim":["Canada"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Stephen R Drudge"],"publisher_tesim":["Tyndale University College and Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Christianity and culture","Religious pluralism","Mission of the church","Missions--Theory","Mennonites"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This action research pilot project used and tested The Missional Network's missional change process to assist six Canadian Mennonite pastors to develop leadership competencies for a post-Christendom context. A process was needed to bring the congregation's leadership together to start thinking strategically and plan the future ministries of the church around a shared vision. A strategic planning team led the process by conducting congregational surveys, meeting regularly to pray, studying survey results and writing new mission and vision statements. The outcomes of this project include new mission and vision statements, a willingness to align the ministries accordingly, and a more forward looking, visionary leadership. Through nine missional experiments and eight written testimonials it was demonstrated the MCM was an effective tool in leading a church into joining God in its neighbourhood."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Tyndale University"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["602e7e7c-0b8b-4e09-af87-84c66ff49c48"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133471684427776,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:19:49.201Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T14:28:11Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:24:32Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"c71e33fd-3b0a-45a1-bcc6-519967f306ac","accessControl_ssim":["dac36c70-66e1-4a5c-aa07-390a4661f604"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["From Imago Dei to Missio Dei: an art experience as invitation to spiritual transformation"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T14:28:09Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:50:52Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["555ac0a9-1130-4e63-a51a-a9829085db16"],"hasLease_ssim":["8871c724-64d3-4021-8cce-25c29fae0040"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Tyndale University"],"advisor_tesim":["Rob Peterson"],"year_tesim":["2012"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Preston Walter Pouteaux"],"publisher_tesim":["Tyndale University College and Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Mission of the church","Christianity and the arts","Spiritual formation","Image of God","Christian life"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Positioned at the intersections of spiritual formation, devotional art, and missional theology, the thesis of this study is that an art installation can engage the theological imagination so as to inspire participants to see themselves as missional disciples. Finally, missional experiments were conducted throughout the community. The survey results indicated that people's understanding of their involvement in the mission of God was not uniform. A qualitative research methodology was utilized to field-test an integrated approach to prayer and planning in three different settings. The research indicates that the adoption of interweaving, inclusive and incarnational approaches to missional direction-setting, with emphasis on Scripture-focused listening prayer, can help churches and organizations overcome the divide between 'spiritual' and 'worldly' practices that often hampers planning efforts, and also cultivate learning communities that seek to follow God's direction into God's mission."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Tyndale University"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["602e7e7c-0b8b-4e09-af87-84c66ff49c48"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133352116355072,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:17:55.172Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":8,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
