Humanity was created to share in that relational love. In pride, the created chose knowledge over a relationship with the Creator, breaking God’s designed order and His anthropomorphic heart. The Trinity gifted humanity their independence while presenting an opportunity to restore them back into relationship. If every person were a house, each house would be a wreck, ravaged by the devastation of sin, desperately needing complete renovation. I used a charismatic metaphor to depict the Trinity as a renovation team, suited up in steel-toed boots, with the tools of the trade hanging off carpenter belts, ready to remodel lives. The Father is the Master Architect, Jesus the Master Craftsman and the Holy Spirit the Onsite Coordinator of this Holy Renovation Team. This portfolio contains an explanation of the Trinitarian blueprints for renovation and a story of personal restoration. Some spiritual disciplines are discussed as the renovation tools of spiritual formation. The favourable results of a research curriculum taught with the goal of heart rehabilitation are reported, and the ultimate reason for this Trinitarian renovation. Holy sweat drips, and the clangors of hammers and drills are heard as the Restoration Team commences the renewal process of Renovation: The Trinity Transforming Lives. Advocating for lay leadership development, particularly among youth and young adults, this study proposes nurturing empowered lay leaders as a solution to organizational stagnation. This paper reflects on the author’s own story of leadership growth and development by tracing his emergence as a leader, identifying important mentors, and noting formative experiences which contributed to his growth. Rooted in theoretical analysis, this portfolio also proposes a paradigm shift towards shared leadership,a collaborative model of leadership which integrates biblical, theoretical, and practical insights. Using Participatory Action Learning and Action Research, both obstacles and strategies for success in leadership development were discovered. Findings indicated significant growth in participants' understanding of leadership calling, spirituality, and teamwork, underscoring the effectiveness of classroom training, mentorship and collaborative approaches. The author explored leadership through the lens of Christ’s roles as prophet, priest and ruler, applying this model to his own leadership journey and to the context of cross-cultural marketplace ministry.   \r\nThe research project incorporated the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada (EFC) 2016 Canadian Evangelical Mission Engagement Study (CEMES) survey, which viewed the idea of professionals and business owners working cross-culturally as missionaries positively. Pastors were asked for more information about their church’s engagement with professionals and business owners interested in cross-cultural mission work. The responses to the survey suggested that pastors viewed this approach positively but not many of their churches had made use of the model. One of the major themes that surfaced in the author’s spiritual autobiography (Chapter II: Getting to Know God—A Lifelong Process) was how God used various aspects of instruction to lead her to a saving faith in the Lord as well as to aid in forming her spiritually. Drawing from this, she developed her model of spiritual formation as an instructional one. Based on the ongoing work of God and the directive of the Great Commission to make and teach disciples, this model (Chapter III: Making Disciples—An Instructional Model of Spiritual Formation) examined instructional considerations and included applications for formal worship and personal and public practices. The third perspective of spiritual formation in this portfolio involved an action research project that used the author’s instructional model and another theme that emanated from her spiritual biography, prayer. This action research project took the form of an online prayer workshop (Chapter IV: An Online Personal Prayer Workshop Designed for Vulnerable Evangelicals) and was designed to explore various aspects of prayer, while also considering the impact of one’s personality type and spiritual temperaments. While participants reported an enhanced prayer life and a deeper relationship with God, recommended modifications to the model are noted in Chapter V. The Lighthouse Foundation is a non-profit ministry initiated by, but separate from the church, The HUB/New Beginnings Ministries in Toronto, Ontario where the researcher is the Associate Pastor. The purpose of the Lighthouse Foundation was specifically designed as an evangelistic opportunity for The HUB to have a presence in the community, and to create relationships with the residents by providing a variety of community-based programs. \r\nThe research portfolio includes chapters on the researcher’s leadership development, philosophy of Christian leadership, and action research project that determined why the Lighthouse Foundation failed to launch. \r\nThe methodology used was evaluative research with selected church members as insider participants. Data collection was in the form of one key informant interview, along with two focus groups consisting of nine participants, which were facilitated by a Tyndale University colleague with predetermined questions. Outcomes of the research landed primarily on three areas: busy lifestyles, the lack of clarity of communication, and the need for training leaders. It includes my Leadership Narrative, Philosophy of\r\nLeadership, Ministry Context Analysis and Project Report. As a therapist, I have\r\nnoticed that an individual’s communication style tremendously\r\nimpacts—positively or negatively—their relationships. During the program and\r\nprocess of writing this Portfolio, I again witnessed the pivotal role that self-\r\nawareness about one’s communication style can play in improving one’s\r\nrelationships with others and strengthening teamwork. My research project\r\nfocused on the communication styles of Joy Church's (JC) key leaders and\r\nexplored how their communication impacted their team building. The\r\nmethodologies I drew on for this project were Participatory Action Research\r\n(PAR) and Ethnographic Research (ER). While the project was neither a PAR\r\nproject nor an Ethnography, both methodologies inspired me and provided\r\nmethods that I used. PAR methods helped me and the project participants to stay actively involved from the start to the end of the project. ER methods allowed me to deeply understand the group’s shared culture and behaviours. I applied the insights I gained and helped the leadership team acknowledge and discern the potential drawbacks and benefits of different communication styles. I also discovered that their communication styles were related to cultural factors such as organizational hierarchy and respect for elders. Aspects of individualism in my personal life and spiritual communities are reflected through a spiritual autobiography describing the effects of relational dynamics on my spiritual development from childhood onward. I explore the concept of communal spirituality using insights from theology, Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB), psychology, and biblical studies. These insights provide a practice-based framework for developing PCs in Christian congregations. An autoethnography draws further insights from my experiences during a season of isolation from my spiritual community. Written through the lens of neurodiversity, this research offers a unique perspective on how specific postures shared within PCs help facilitate the integration and participation of individuals. I conclude by describing how the interaction of the practices and postures explored throughout this portfolio provides a more complete context for spiritual formation in the context of PCs and other spiritual communities. My spiritual autobiography in this portfolio is a testimony of such a journey toward Christlikeness, a journey guided by God‚Äôs grace. Out of the various spiritual practices that exist to build up Christlikeness in believers, I consider silence a central discipline in my spiritual life. This led me to learn the fundamentals of silence and other spiritual formation methods to train myself and be transformed inwardly. I described these fundamentals as a model for spiritual growth in this portfolio. My experience of the beauty of silence and related spiritual practices also led to my desire to convey my learning and experience to the Cambodian people in my missionary work. I prepared a spiritual discipline program for Cambodian church leaders. This program introduced and fostered the ability to practice silence through examen and prayer walking. I then examined how this program affected participants.
