This qualitative action research project document describes the actual establishment of a congregational-based CPE program in Fargo, North Dakota.  Using this information and data drawn from the experience of five other founding supervisors of congregational-based programs, fourteen developmental steps and seven founding principles were found to be necessary in the development of a viable congregational-based CPE center. The project develops a training manual to teach about grief and the supervisory conversation. Role-playing exercises help team members work through latent aspects of their own grief. The six-week partnership between the Second Baptist Church of Columbus, Ohio and the Hospice at Riverside and Grant Community Grief Program provided education, resources, and support to persons within the first year of grief related to the loss of a loved one.
