If so, is it also possible for leadership style to have a positive effect on members' participation?  The purpose of this project is to determine the relationship between pastoral leadership style and church membership participation and to design a model of leadership style that can enhance membership participation.  The project affirmed that style can be a contributing factor to membership participation but there is not one style that will always enhance membership participation. Designated leaders of the church will be more effective if they can be aware of the need for their 'production' to be balanced by the energizing and recreative aspects of play.  Such a need might well begin with the intimacy in their own family relationships.  The disquisition develops the relational theme of play biblically, sociologically, and psychologically.
