It deals mainly with the death of a pastor's wife and the pastoral care received during the dying process.  It also includes interviews with ten individuals who experienced the death of a loved one during a period of active ministry to a congregation as a pastor. The local church, which is called to minister both to the world and to its own members, can and should minister to its pastors as well as its members.  The project design around which this study is built involved a four to six-month series of meetings and reflection by local church support committees.  Using a manual, which is included in the thesis, the committees reviewed the four primary relationships which exist between the local church and its pastor.  The pastor is a leader, colleague, employee and friend to the church and its members. If so, is it also possible for leadership style to have a positive effect on members' participation?  The purpose of this project is to determine the relationship between pastoral leadership style and church membership participation and to design a model of leadership style that can enhance membership participation.  The project affirmed that style can be a contributing factor to membership participation but there is not one style that will always enhance membership participation. Such a need might well begin with the intimacy in their own family relationships.  The disquisition develops the relational theme of play biblically, sociologically, and psychologically. That being the case, the dynamic of worship deserves most careful attention.  Research is conducted through analysis of the Bible and historical writings of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).  This is placed within the framework of the 'five orders of worship' of Campbell and early Disciples.  The author concludes that Disciples are forsaking their historical/theological heritage in public leadership of worship. The author provides a statement of theological foundations for campus ministry.
