The intervention hypothesized that combining and applying the theories of hope and purpose pedagogically and through mentoring models could resolve the undifferentiated angst in the sample group.  This study concluded that a sense of hope and purpose is an effective antidote to the anger and aimlessness experienced by the members of the cohort. The method employed to determine the effective use of the biblical basis for tissue techniques was a pastoral ministry with four separate married couples counseled in eight fifty-minute sessions of pastoral therapy. Anger, itself, is not necessarily a negative characteristic. In fact, when managed properly, anger can be healthy; when mismanaged anger can be destructive. Historically, the Black church and the Black family have been the filtering systems which assisted blacks to develop methods and learn to effectively deal with dysfunctional elements in the total society. However, with the numerous changes in the total social order, the Black family and the Black church have discovered that counteracting these destructive forces has become very complicated.
