This project contributes to this task.  In an adult study class in a local church the author uses feminist biblical hermeneutics to enable lay persons to discover and articulate their own hermeneutic.  This process allows for the emergence of greater congruence between an inherited view of the Bible and a view which functions in accord with experience. The project consisted of the work of a design team of nine people from the congregation which included the pastor-author. The main focus of the course is sermon preparation rather than the actual sermon itself.  In an effort to improve the enjoyment and productivity of the sermon preparation experience the course explores creativity and the creative process and uses methods and techniques designed to enhance the preacher's creativity. The paper explores the concept of creativity from biblical, theological and psychological perspectives. For them, the prevailing 'born again' model does not express their personal faith experience.  This project prepared a study which used a narrative approach to explore the faith stories of several New Testament characters and the course participants themselves.  Findings indicated that participants were uncomfortable telling their faith stories before the course.  After they were given a variety of models of faith experience, the participants were more comfortable telling their stories and realized the importance of doing so. The project includes an intergenerational parish retreat based on Prince Caspian by C S Lewis.   It emphasizes experiential learning and journal writing.  The study looks into the loss of imagination today as well as the topics of imagination, story, fairy tale, Lewis himself and theology. A study experience is conducted in two churches served by the author.  The study included both an introduction to feminist theology and ministry as well as an evaluation of the author's ministry in relation to these perspectives.  Also, thirty churches were surveyed, fifteen served by clergywomen, fifteen served by clergymen. An attempt is made to determine whether lay people's perception of ministry changes after experiencing a woman as pastor. The black church has been the main source for growth opportunities for black Americans, but the church has not been able to address all the needs of mind, body, and spirit.  Ministry in the black church will have to be holistic in order to adequately deal with the multiple needs of black people. Growth-groups can assist black people to explore internal, debilitating conditions, and can help create changes in perceptual awareness.
