This question is the driving force behind this project and can be divided into three distinct components. The first component deals with the pastor as leader. The pastor above any other person should be the 'spiritual influencer' within the local church. The second component deals with the overall spiritual formation of the congregation. The third component deals with the spiritual development of elementary school-aged children. To address the third component, without giving adequate attention to the first two, would be a futile attempt at fixing a problem in our church that is deep and multi-faceted. By addressing the three components mentioned above through research, survey, training of the laity and dialogue, a specific plan of action has been put in place."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799718602425761792,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:36:47.891Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:47:30Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:14:52Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a9f293ac-da3c-47fe-9ca7-87a6f4d170fa","accessControl_ssim":["7e4307e8-38e3-4891-adc2-90f0fd19bab4"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Our story - God's story: a study of the role of sharing 'outsidedness' stories in a parish setting"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:47:30Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:02:52Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["92b67f64-a55c-4211-aee7-4d0bc2fefc5d"],"hasLease_ssim":["2bdbf9b0-cabb-440c-b15d-4ba9ab160cc1"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Denise Dombkowski Hopkins"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Anger, itself, is not necessarily a negative characteristic. In fact, when managed properly, anger can be healthy; when mismanaged anger can be destructive. Historically, the Black church and the Black family have been the filtering systems which assisted blacks to develop methods and learn to effectively deal with dysfunctional elements in the total society. However, with the numerous changes in the total social order, the Black family and the Black church have discovered that counteracting these destructive forces has become very complicated. The Christ-hymn of Philippians 2 is the scriptural model upon which the experiment was originally conceived. A small group of interested persons was assembled for the project. Using interviews, journals, and other tools which were utilized to measure the resources (money, possessions, but also time, health, values, etc.) of the project participants, steps were determined which might aid others who are interested in fashioning a simpler way of living. The project resulted in the participants' collective realization that obedience to God, born of gratitude for the grace, mercy, and provision of God, is the key for achieving a successful (faithful) outcome in the experiment of living more simply."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799721904704061440,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:29:17.190Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:42:51Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:59:23Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"b8c47fc3-e185-4888-92e8-85c73a6b6933","accessControl_ssim":["dbb79237-c657-4029-9a32-fd9c7bb6565f"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Telling the story of God: spiritual autobiography in the local church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:42:50Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:27:21Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["ba6ca094-52a7-4736-9733-1933145a8001"],"hasLease_ssim":["b509d615-9af7-43fa-b26d-11b125d4ccfa"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Susan Willhauck"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The primary purpose of the project has been to explore the possible contribute to be made by Christian spiritual autobiography as an exercise for nurturing the Christian spiritual life within the context of local churches. A special feature of this design involved participants in an imaginative exercise of narrating their life stories in the voice of God. The project is best understood as an experiment, therefore, in the use of the spiritual autobiographies of members of a local congregation for the benefit of those who recall and share their stories and who hear the stories of others."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799720024411209728,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:59:24.003Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"D.Min.
