To discern how we may move through and beyond such trauma, the author interviewed Rwandans who survived the 1994 genocide who knew of priests and nuns who betrayed churches in their care. The author then shared these findings with congregations in the United States who have been harmed by pastors or ministry leaders to determine if justice and mercy may enable their own journey towards forgiveness and reconciliation. The findings suggest repentance and atonement are key to forgiveness, whether reconciliation with perpetrators is possible.[Note about entry: Abstract submitted to the Atla RIM database on behalf of the author. Pew research reports that 63% of the silent generation (born between 1928 and 1945) identifies with historically black denominations, while only 41% of black millennials (born between 1980 and 2000) say the same. Three-in ten (29%) African Americans between the ages of 18 and 29 claim to be religiously unaffiliated. Considering these statistics, many churches face the danger of extinction due to the lack of entry points promoting consistent engagement among millennials. The pressing issue then becomes how Black Churches as a whole (and more specifically, the Greenforest Community Baptist Church) can create engaging, evangelistic, and empowering entry points for millennials. This project will expound upon Paul’s mission strategy of becoming 'all things to all people, that I might by all means save some” (1 Corinthians 9:19-23 [NSRV]) to serve as a theological framework for establishing evangelistic entry points for millennials into traditional churches.[Note about entry: Abstract submitted to the Atla RIM database on behalf of the author. The training, unlike the Army’s Single Soldiers Strong Bonds program, welcomes a single servicemembers’ romantic partner. This training incorporates key elements of the Strong Bonds' training, but in less time and with additional resources. The author prepared a questionnaire addressing key aspects of dating for the members of the 3rd Squadron 61st Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division. The feedback was used to develop training that focuses on helping single servicemembers acquire the knowledge needed to assess if a potential romantic partner’s qualities are conducive for a healthy romantic relationship.[Note about entry: Abstract submitted to the Atla RIM database on behalf of the author. Although it is a blessing to be the priest and prophet of your local congregation and community, it can also be stressful. Consequently, there are times where pastors miss the opportunity of living a more fulfilling life through Sabbath and life-work balance. The biblical and Wesleyan traditions offer solutions to this challenge as pastors respond to God’s call of dedicated service through ministry. When pastors connect with their biblical and Wesleyan traditions and they are supported by their church community, pastors are better equipped to live a more well-rounded life.[Note about entry: Abstract submitted to the Atla RIM database on behalf of the author.
