After studying the training of elders as described in the New Testament, tracing the history of theological education in the United States, and conducting case studies of some contemporary church-centered training programs, the author concluded that it is feasible for local churches to train pastors.  The hypothesis was tested in a training program conducted by the author at Hinson Memorial Baptist Church in Portland, Oregon.  Five students were trained in hermeneutics and homiletics over a six-month period. Part II describes research conducted by means of convenience sampling using a 103-item questionnaire among 451 active Protestants and Roman Catholics fifty-five years of age and older in a midwestern community.  Factor analysis determined five dimensions of religiosity named orthodoxy, personal faith, treatment, satisfaction with life, and dissatisfaction with life. Comparison and correlation of factors and items found a positive attitude about life and more so about congregations.  Men want to feel more useful to their congregations. The author has formally and informally used the grid both as a pastor and as a consultant. The satellite cities are the British government's attempt to solve the problems of one of the world's most crowded places.  This paper tells how one family searched for a church planting pattern that would work in the satellite cities.
