In this context, resurrection and the providence of God are addressed through a series of select questions and answers posed by the Heidelberg Catechism. Subjects such as the beginning of the universe, divine governance, original sin, resurrection and new creation are held in juxtaposition with scientific theories of Big Bang cosmology, thermodynamics, death of the universe, and evolution. It is concluded that hope for the future and the problem of evil are resolved only in light of cosmological resurrection and God’s suffering with creation for the sake of new creation."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com","martins02@moravian.edu"],"_version_":1851860319902629888,"timestamp":"2025-12-18T15:27:04.663Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:26:53Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:26:57Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"cefb0ce2-c77a-4530-a202-9b0820aa8ad0","accessControl_ssim":["8f1e64cd-8611-4e3c-adf4-b891cfebedec"],"depositor_ssim":["martins02@moravian.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["martins02@moravian.edu"],"title_tesim":["For we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces: examples of the theology, doctrine and practice of spiritual warfare in Lancaster County"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:26:52Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:26:52Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["880b4367-400b-4788-a245-7e3bd155842c"],"hasLease_ssim":["5339e6d7-6993-4128-aabb-2707f76ba0d4"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["DMin"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lancaster Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["2017"],"video_embed_tesim":[""],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Spiritual warfare is often defined by its practitioners as a conflict between God and the heavenly host against Satan and his malevolent forces of evil for the souls of people. According to many Christian traditions, the Bible states that Jesus has given the church authority and power to employ spiritual warfare practices like prayer, laying on of hands, anointing with oil, or exorcisms. The questions of whether they engage in spiritual warfare practices or not, how they think about them theologically and doctrinally, and how they implement them practically are closely examined here."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com","martins02@moravian.edu"],"_version_":1851860312864587776,"timestamp":"2025-12-18T15:26:57.950Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:53:13Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T18:51:41Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"81a08051-cc53-4569-b9b5-2ffee65bc534","accessControl_ssim":["88c08abb-0b95-4210-8db1-b35b758f77c3"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A description of the current practices of United Church of Christ African American worship in North Carolina"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:53:12Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T18:46:03Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["ef6bbc85-759d-4277-b706-6ec71d9b8090"],"hasLease_ssim":["1842e21a-8983-455f-8bdd-e36dfbca9855"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"additional_rights_info_tesim":["Donald Freeman"],"degree_tesim":["DMin"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lancaster Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["1996"],"video_embed_tesim":[""],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Three black pastors helped to create an interview protocol that could explore and define the black church tradition in the UCC. The interviews analyzed the pastor's context in ministry, authorization for ministry, Sunday morning worship practices, preaching, music, communion, baptism, special days, and printed resources used in worship. The reports reveal a remarkably consistent worship practice that reflects the black, 'rural' worship tradition of this region. A central ritual act of nearly all churches in the study is believer's baptism by immersion. Immersion matches the believer's experience of death of the old life and rebirth in Christ and parallels the Sunday morning experience of death to the old, destructive, secular world and rebirth into the beloved community of the church."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Lancaster Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["77231467-10ce-4737-858a-8cc38e70a4f9"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1851873194178248704,"timestamp":"2025-12-18T18:51:42.529Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"D.Min.
