Yet because transmission of HIV/AIDS often involves forms of sexual contact and/or substance use which are condemned in most Christian communities, and because many persons living with HIV/AIDS have had deeply painful experiences with Christians, prejudice, fear, and pain create a gap between Christians and persons living with HIV/AIDS. AIDS education within church communities needs to bridge this gap. This project is a ministry tool in which Christian communities interact with a body of artistic work in order to shift misunderstanding, prejudice, and fear concerning persons living with HIV/AIDS. The project shows that art can be used to bring about understanding, transformation, and dialogue. Further, it demonstrates that many Christian communities are ripe for this encounter, and the method is accessible to faith communities in various ministry contexts."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791126669059162112,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:31:41.712Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:53:04Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:15:58Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"22165c9a-bde0-4637-b615-20eac3f6ce07","accessControl_ssim":["90f5dc26-2196-468c-bba5-4f653f42cb37"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Transforming arts ministry: an organizational tool for teaching and sharing the gift of art"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:53:03Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:08:29Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["6921626f-39d4-4c6f-b5ae-cf307e62dbf2"],"hasLease_ssim":["1952d2f4-d133-48a8-ab91-f12f799175e9"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Beverly E Mitchell"],"year_tesim":["2008"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The author then raised questions regarding the appropriate personal and social responses to that grace. Because of his Katrina experience, both people and pastor re-learned that hospitality was a necessary practice in the faith community. Together they initiated a new ministry -- a radical act of hospitality -- to an inner city school that became a defining moment for both school and congregation."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799720765396877312,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:11:10.662Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:53:02Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:55:46Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a4a2ff95-d18b-4cd0-b82a-033eb45080ef","accessControl_ssim":["4f62f5d6-c630-497e-9bee-ec6656296ee8"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Revive us again: reviving the black church through experiential worship in the Methodist revivalist spirit"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:52:55Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:54:53Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["3b41de3a-59f4-4569-89eb-745efa192a0b"],"hasLease_ssim":["ece667d5-fb48-407c-9cb8-1be2b34450e2"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["William B McClain"],"year_tesim":["2008"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min.
