For society in general, and for the Roman Catholic Church in particular, the global increase in migrants poses many questions and challenges that require coordinated, committed, and compassionate responses in order to welcome, protect, promote, and, above all, integrate them into the social and parish fabric. Also, the growing phenomenon of human mobility inevitably involves the encounter of different cultures, an encounter that places individuals and groups before various dynamics: assimilation, acculturation, disintegration, and integration/mestizaje. As pastor of a neighborhood parish in the south of Madrid, I am convinced that only integration/mestizaje is a valid response. But how do the host parishes –pastors, lay leaders, and the whole community- welcome these new cultures Latino Catholic migrants (LCMs) represent, how do they promote their integration into the parochial fabric?\r\nFocusing on the case of LCMs in an urban Spanish context, this thesis project drew on a completely new qualitative research with a selected group of five LCMs present in two parishes of the suburban area of Madrid. The research consisted of personal interviews using an open-ended questionnaire that aimed to answer the question of whether it is true that promoting the full integration of LCMs into the Spanish parochial fabric would result in a mutual enrichment that would revitalize not only the way the local community worships but also its own identity, vitality, and missionary commitment. The broad framework of this thesis project could be summarized in a threefold set of micro goals: to describe the current situation of the sample group, to identify certain patterns that might be common, and to put the findings in dialogue with the context of the host church to draw conclusions that can become pastoral orientations.\r\nThe testimonies I collected did not allow me to answer this question as clearly as I had anticipated. Rather, what I have concluded from the interviews is that LCMs enter the parishes in Madrid without any problem. However, this integration does not seem to involve a significant element of novelty, the emergence of a new ecclesial reality, the mestizo church. A subtle but real neo-colonialism still delays, if not prevents, mestizaje in parish life. Nonetheless, this project thesis names a fourfold set of broad pastoral guidelines that, as scaffolding ideas, can inspire concrete pastoral actions that will serve to advance the birth of a mestizo church, respectful of and yet different from Latino and local cultures.\r\n"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["jorozcoortigosa@student.ctu.edu"],"_version_":1795985452896878592,"timestamp":"2024-04-10T21:39:59.067Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2024-04-01T20:50:25Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-04-26T14:27:50Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"1097ac42-f98b-4db5-92aa-65d40b159495","accessControl_ssim":["978a2944-a7e1-4c26-b1c8-e69e48b25cb0"],"depositor_ssim":["jonfuller10@gmail.com"],"depositor_tesim":["jonfuller10@gmail.com"],"title_tesim":["Leadership and the Incarnation: Reflections on Cross-Cultural Marketplace Mission and the Role of the Church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2024-04-01T20:50:24Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-04-26T14:27:50Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["e231e615-1d21-4491-b369-87ff409aa4bb"],"hasLease_ssim":["14679a67-e4c6-4c48-81e4-6c3322b079a7"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Tyndale University"],"year_tesim":["2024"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. One of the major themes that surfaced in the author’s spiritual autobiography (Chapter II: Getting to Know God—A Lifelong Process) was how God used various aspects of instruction to lead her to a saving faith in the Lord as well as to aid in forming her spiritually. Drawing from this, she developed her model of spiritual formation as an instructional one. Based on the ongoing work of God and the directive of the Great Commission to make and teach disciples, this model (Chapter III: Making Disciples—An Instructional Model of Spiritual Formation) examined instructional considerations and included applications for formal worship and personal and public practices. The third perspective of spiritual formation in this portfolio involved an action research project that used the author’s instructional model and another theme that emanated from her spiritual biography, prayer. This action research project took the form of an online prayer workshop (Chapter IV: An Online Personal Prayer Workshop Designed for Vulnerable Evangelicals) and was designed to explore various aspects of prayer, while also considering the impact of one’s personality type and spiritual temperaments. While participants reported an enhanced prayer life and a deeper relationship with God, recommended modifications to the model are noted in Chapter V. Overall, this workshop and portfolio both demonstrate that instruction can be an effective means to foster spiritual formation."],"license_tesim":["https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["sallybruce1000@gmail.com"],"_version_":1795237377967390720,"timestamp":"2024-04-02T15:29:39.220Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2024-03-10T13:35:16Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-03-20T14:27:59Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"efa2f1f8-6ed3-49be-a612-b40181f71eeb","accessControl_ssim":["8c869a17-0d49-461e-80e9-d12fad62df3a"],"depositor_ssim":["pastor.sharon@nbmto.org"],"depositor_tesim":["pastor.sharon@nbmto.org"],"title_tesim":["The Lighthouse Foundation: Discovering the Underlying Reasons that Prevented its Launch, While Understanding Leadership When Faced With Failure"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2024-03-10T13:35:15Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-03-20T14:27:58Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["e686147c-0421-4949-8c00-d24dc1dcffca"],"hasLease_ssim":["69cae424-9190-449b-99d7-7d58fffecbf0"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Tyndale University"],"year_tesim":["2023"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The Lighthouse Foundation is a non-profit ministry initiated by, but separate from the church, The HUB/New Beginnings Ministries in Toronto, Ontario where the researcher is the Associate Pastor. The purpose of the Lighthouse Foundation was specifically designed as an evangelistic opportunity for The HUB to have a presence in the community, and to create relationships with the residents by providing a variety of community-based programs. \r\nThe research portfolio includes chapters on the researcher’s leadership development, philosophy of Christian leadership, and action research project that determined why the Lighthouse Foundation failed to launch. \r\nThe methodology used was evaluative research with selected church members as insider participants. Data collection was in the form of one key informant interview, along with two focus groups consisting of nine participants, which were facilitated by a Tyndale University colleague with predetermined questions. Outcomes of the research landed primarily on three areas: busy lifestyles, the lack of clarity of communication, and the need for training leaders. These findings also helped the researcher to understand that the vision was too unrealistic to achieve without the necessary skill-sets and volunteers needed for a successful project.\r\n"],"license_tesim":["https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["pastor.sharon@nbmto.org"],"_version_":1794055738255998976,"timestamp":"2024-03-20T14:27:59.776Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2024-01-03T21:02:50Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:19:00Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"1e9baa79-e06f-4946-bfa7-6a16228ddd3e","accessControl_ssim":["0c969008-fe98-41b8-95f0-755998f59028"],"depositor_ssim":["coreyparish@hotmail.com"],"depositor_tesim":["coreyparish@hotmail.com"],"title_tesim":["Practicing Community: Postures and Practices for Spiritual Formation"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2024-01-03T21:02:49Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:02:24Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["06f2e49b-6167-48d4-ba45-62a8fad9044b"],"hasLease_ssim":["c5a9fb91-4ce7-4861-a134-c493c2930158"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Tyndale University"],"year_tesim":["2023"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Aspects of individualism in my personal life and spiritual communities are reflected through a spiritual autobiography describing the effects of relational dynamics on my spiritual development from childhood onward. I explore the concept of communal spirituality using insights from theology, Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB), psychology, and biblical studies. These insights provide a practice-based framework for developing PCs in Christian congregations. An autoethnography draws further insights from my experiences during a season of isolation from my spiritual community. Written through the lens of neurodiversity, this research offers a unique perspective on how specific postures shared within PCs help facilitate the integration and participation of individuals. I conclude by describing how the interaction of the practices and postures explored throughout this portfolio provides a more complete context for spiritual formation in the context of PCs and other spiritual communities. In the Church’s wisdom, taken from the Lord’s promise of peace and Christ’s presence, the Rite of Blessing of a Home can be a valuable means of delivering God’s blessing to His people. A house blessing is a cleansing of sin and unrighteousness, an exorcism of the devil, invoking God’s presence in the home, and a salutary application of the deliverance of Christ crucified and risen for sinners. In the pastoral visitation to the Christian home and in the extraordinary care of souls, pastors should regularly bless God’s people by means of the Word of God and prayer. Hence, the Rite of Blessing a Home is a tangible application of God’s word of blessing upon God’s people and the place in which they dwell.\r\nThis project examines the practice and implementation of blessing the Christian home with the hopes of establishing a yearly tradition each Epiphanytide. An underutilized rite in Lutheranism necessitated preaching and teaching on the history, purpose, and intention of blessing, pastoral visitation, the Christian home, and spiritual warfare. House blessings were then conducted during the Epiphany season. This project provides guidance, encouragement, and direction for pastors to offer and conduct house blessings for those under his pastoral care to extend the grace of God and sanctify the Christian home, provide an blessed atmosphere for Christian virtue and vocation to thrive, and strengthen the relationships between pastor and his people."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Concordia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["f49f809a-65b5-4566-bfbb-5756e01b6bc7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com","roger.peters@ctsfw.edu"],"_version_":1791135290258096128,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:48:43.528Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"D.Min.
