Holston Conference"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The project question, 'Will the development and accomplishment of district wide revitalization strategies help the district and congregations alike be even more fruitful and extend the reign of God?' was a four-year case study research project for the Kingsport District of The Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church.  The researcher facilitated the work of the Kingsport District re-think team as they demonstrated the accomplishment of a district-wide strategy that equipped and empowered congregational leaders toward increasing the United Methodist witness. Furthermore, many black churches and denominations have opted to use a Sunday School outline with roots in white Protestant theology and are employing a pedagogy that negates the genius of black youth. Small group meetings provided a network of support for seminarians.  A Circle of Mentors consisting of ordained women clergy employed in full time ministry positions provided their expertise and personal examples for discerning, female seminarians. The author also studies theological motifs of Christian community as a foundational preparation for churches and annual conferences to engage in transformative ministry. One consists of a detailed and systematic review of the content of twelve central courses currently being taught at the Canada Institute of Linguistics as part of a program of training for the role of 'Translation Specialist.' The content of each of these courses is mapped to a set of competencies expected of those who are to serve in this role. The other component consists of an analysis of survey results in which translation specialists, their supervisors and mother-tongue translators reflect on actual field performance and the effectiveness of prefield training in preparation for fieldwork. The author's concern has been how ministries of pastors can be enhanced to understand the cultural context of their local congregations.  The author believes that the seminars conducted would give them new insights.
