Questionnaires with interview-style segments were distributed to the project church members in weekly worship services and to the neighborhood residents by trained visitors.  Those questionnaires and the area demographics challenged the covenant committee, made up of church members from the project and candidate's churches. A series of groups was organized based on geography, context (an exploration of oppression) and commitment (connecting faith to life by worship, study, community and mission).  Individual and corporate support was offered and some steps toward justice-seeking ministries were taken as a result of these groups. Philadelphia is the context of study and the work of United Methodist Metro Ministries, Inc, the urban agency of the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference, is the example of an agency that developed and implemented such a process.  Findings include: new self-understanding and praxis of urban congregations based on socio-theological reflection; greater satisfaction in the work of ministry in the city; new appreciation for social context and biblical study.  This process necessitates critical reflection upon the urban context and disciplined biblical and theological study as indivisible for effective praxis in the city. Through a project of developing a Bible study, proposing a retreat, organizing a Korean culture night, participating in a joint worship service and fellowship, celebrating a joint Christmas cantata, and publishing to witness for Jesus Christ, the Living Well United Methodist Church was well developed as a bilingual model church in the Korean American community.
