As a way of understanding character, this project offers a conceptual model for four negotiations that constitute the human endeavor for making decisions.  The project introduces these negotiations to participants, invites them to identify one, and gives them an opportunity to consider current social issues with those of like negotiation. Church judicatory personnel too frequently respond as if alcoholism is a matter of will and moral weakness.  This posture impedes recovery and contributes to the downward spiral of the clergy alcoholic and his or her family.  The project offers a model for ministry which helps church judicatory personnel and local church clergy persons become actively involved in the recovery of clergy alcoholics. The model incorporates four specific issues related to recovery: identification, intervention, treatment, and co-dependency.  The pervasive nature of the disease includes the co-dependency of the alcoholic's entire family. The project sought to discover as many of these meanings as possible.  Research included reading and the author's reflection on his own experience of worship. The aim of the project is twofold: 1) to discover, through a historical case study, a Reformed precedent for 'class networking', and 2) test such 'class networking' among some of today's Reformed laity in the Washington, D C area.  Dr Thomas Chalmers and his nineteenth century class networking in urban Scotland is chosen as the Reformed precedent.  Two groups of affluent laity (one experimental, one control) are selected at random from Reformed parishes to engage in a one-year test of the hypothesis.  Results underscore the validity of the hypothesis. This process allows for the emergence of greater congruence between an inherited view of the Bible and a view which functions in accord with experience. The main focus of the course is sermon preparation rather than the actual sermon itself.  In an effort to improve the enjoyment and productivity of the sermon preparation experience the course explores creativity and the creative process and uses methods and techniques designed to enhance the preacher's creativity. The paper explores the concept of creativity from biblical, theological and psychological perspectives. The project consisted of the work of a design team of nine people from the congregation which included the pastor-author. Can the Psalter continue to be our 'School of Prayer' and teach pastor and congregation how to pray? Can the Psalms be listened to as the Word of God?  Can the constant and strong appearance of praise and joy in the Psalms transform congregational worship and bring greater awareness of God's presence and person?  The long and significant faith tradition shows that the Psalms do indeed speak for us to God and to us from God. There is a window into this neglected past through the saints of the Church.  During a six week 'Festival of Saints', a local United Methodist Church studied five saints: John of Damascus, Francis of Assisi, Martin Luther, Mary McLeod Bethune and C. S. Lewis.  Each week the Sunday worship centered around the saint and the appropriate part of the tradition.
