A multidisiplinary literature review was undertaken to glean pastoral care insights from the bio-cultural sciences. A woefully inadequate, often dualistic, misreading of Scripture, this assumption has long obscured the symbolic structure of Eucharist.  This Dissertation/Project reorients Christian anthropology within the triadic paradigm of Hebrew and Christian symbolism.  It builds on the 1960's work of social anthropologist Mary Douglas who argued Old Testament Hebrew purity rules and ritual implied a well-defined symbolic system rooted in social organization.
