Surveys and interviews of new believers, mature believers and leaders revealed that growing churches, randomly chosen, have members who invite widely and, particularly, those whom the Spirit is drawing. Visitors are struck by the welcome, the fellowship, the worship, and a sense of connecting with God. An urban congregation participated in a two-year study to change its understanding and experience of communion from being individual-centered to being community-centered. Results indicate that, over time, this effort may lead to a change in the congregational mythos and identity. Mixed methods of research utilizing pre and post surveys, a series of sermons, observations and interviews given by a context group were used to measure the results.  The goal was to teach the Christian education board made up of 17 members, on the usage and application of fellowship principles taken from the Bible, and to have these members use these principles of fellowship in the congregation. Each group was age-graded and was no larger than fifteen members.  A facilitator and assistant guided group discussion in each meeting.  The curriculum consisted of thirteen messages--prepared from the book of Ephesians--which revolved around the deepening of relationships and building biblical church fellowship.  Sunday morning messages were further discussed within each home group, with the aid of discussion guides.  Each group discussed how the messages would positively and negatively affect the health of the church fellowship. Chapter 1 presents the problem and states the goals as the solution to the problem. Chapter 2 addresses the biblical rationale for enhancing inter-church Christian fellowship. Chapter 3 shows the credence given to the rationale of the project through the sociological environment, the corporate world, and society in general, for example, the growing place of women in the professional business and public life and the growing importance of the issue in ecumenical relationships, school life, and workplace experiences. In Chapter 4, the focus is the actual procedures of the research project. This chapter encompasses the step-by-step procedure. The most profound act of hospitality to the human race has been performed by God through Jesus the Christ's birth, ministry, crucifixion, and resurrection.  The human race is to act out this gift in life in overcoming alienations and estrangements from one another and from God.  The most important conclusion reached from the study is that continued giving of hospitality by a host to a stranger enhances the life of both host and stranger through sharing and caring.  The study goes on to a particular community in which hospitality is given intentionally to residents in an attempt to empower them to become the nucleus and guiding faith community of a developing congregation.  This study concludes that a faith community can be created through the giving of
