life"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This grounded theory study uses interviews from ten leaders in six churches with varying degrees of success in implementing disciple-making strategies to determine what are the critical factors. These factors include: spiritual preparation, leadership buy-in, the on-going communication of vision and philosophy, a healthy launch, congregational buy-in and successfully passing on the philosophical DNA of making disciples. The on-going communication of vision and philosophy was determined to be the most critical factor in this change process. This study also relates these factors to John Kotter's eight-stage process of change from his book Leading change (1996). This project discovered and analyzed the potential for pastoral longevity in the Evangelical Free Church of America.  Advantages and disadvantages of both short-term and long-term pastorates were given.  The case was made biblically and practically for long-term pastorates.  EFCA pastors who had been in their churches ten years or longer were surveyed.  Longevity factors were then identified, corroborated, and analyzed.  Demographic factors concerning both pastors and their churches were included. A parent's training manual for teaching their children was written based on the Evangelical Free Church of America's doctrinal statement. Thirteen parents were recruited to test the manual with twenty-six children between the ages of five and twelve.  Each week's lesson included Bible study, Scripture memory and catechism memory work. Specific recommendations are then made.  These are viewed from the perspective of various departments of the Free Church nationally, including its seminary.  A second category involves recommended changes regarding the superintendent's role as it impacts the local church. Eleven such views are identified and evaluated.  These eleven views were then submitted in survey form to selected leaders within the above-mentioned denomination in order to determine the boundaries within its leadership structure for acceptable beliefs on this topic. He then designs, implements, and evaluates a specific developmental process.  Included is a group leader's manual for the smallgroup coursework as an appendix. Two surveys were employed: an eight item survey was sent to district superintendents; and a sixty item survey was sent to pastors.  The superintendents reported that these pastors served credibly in two capacities: pastoring small churches and as new church planters.  The pastors were married men in their late twenties or early thirties.  Most had some form of formal pastoral training, half having completed seminary.  All found pastoring to be satisfying.  The negative issues were isolation, time pressures, and a lack of affirmation of their
