This project will be based on the ministry skill enhancement model. The project director will begin by researching the field of apologetics and create an annotated bibliography from resources researched to aid in the design and delivery of apologetic sermons. He also will create a report identifying theological doctrines related to evil and suffering that will serve as essential components necessary to increase understanding of evil and suffering. The project director then will develop a series of apologetic sermons incorporating the essential components identified. He will base each sermon on apologetic principles and will incorporate a specific component deemed necessary for the increasing of congregational understanding of evil and suffering. The project director will preach the series of apologetic sermons at Eastwood Baptist Church. Expert evaluators from the fields of apologetics, theology, and preaching, will assess the bibliography, report, sermons, and actual preaching of the series to ensure the project director fulfills the goals of the project."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5e492469-490e-44a3-90c1-17560a603bc2"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799716882541969408,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:09:27.683Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:07:23Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:37:59Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"cb28c5ea-9b8a-474c-9b62-a55d51efe748","accessControl_ssim":["f5c5d841-d6d7-4b46-ac7c-78eb174e5cb1"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Understanding evil an educational conversation with a congregation"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:07:21Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:58:22Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["fa7bec85-1af7-4e60-bb1f-9c6b304fb037"],"hasLease_ssim":["854122c4-b1e6-4534-a237-3b8cf7b33eba"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Kathryn L Johnson"],"year_tesim":["2007"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Robert Gary Kelly"],"publisher_tesim":["Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Hick, John, 1922-2012","Roth, John K","Irenaeus, Saint, Bp of Lyons","Hartshorne, Charles, 1897-2000","Good and evil","Calvin, Jean, 1509-1564","Augustine, of Hippo, Saint, 354-430"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The project took its lead from some of the dubious answers that are given to people in the midst of evil and suffering. Easily neglected or denied, the repressed shadow is then capable of actuating the split-off inferior, unattractive, too frequently feminine, side of psyche in such phenomenological forms as projection and scapegoating. Raising the unconscious to the conscious level is not viewed as optional, but mandatory. Two parish church case studies of conflict support the project's thesis, as well as a chapter devoted to the ontology of evil. Psychologically, the trinitarian image of God is found to be inadequate. God's nature is more completely symbolized within the quaternity. Satan, indeed, shadow, is to be interpreted as a vital part of creation, not to be nullified by negativity but positively appropriated within a paradoxical unity."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["63ab0f5c-c5fb-460c-b8ba-dd2fd91f7145"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133073742495744,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:13:29.694Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:46:36Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:06:51Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"9573a60c-495c-4a71-bc84-f340c314dab2","accessControl_ssim":["397da240-e11d-4e90-b549-b7d10ebc6fc9"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Teaching the church how to offer intercessory prayer for enemies and evildoers"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:46:36Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:30:23Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["30797235-3610-440d-bb7d-68f82a0998fe"],"hasLease_ssim":["63ab540b-bb34-4ad6-9b13-570c2b65a8c4"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Stanley P Saunders"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Steven Jay Voris"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Good and evil","Enemy","Prayer"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Intercessory prayer for enemies and evildoers is an advanced prayer practice that has received little attention in the church even though it is attested in scripture and examples can be found in the Christian mystical tradition.
