The praxis director initiated this praxis in an effort to increase the members' awareness of the functions of the Holy Spirit in preaching and sermon listening, and the benefits gained from understanding and articulating those functions. In this dissertation the author surveyed and interviewed missionaries to determine what spiritual disciplines most helped them stay effective in their ministry. The results of this research point out certain spiritual disciplines which missionaries use to remain spiritually healthy-prayer, engaging Scripture, worship, fellowship, and service.  Other disciplines were done to a lesser extent.  There was also recognition by the missionaries that workload, busyness, one's environment, and cross-cultural living impacted the effective practice of those disciplines. The results of this project will serve to help local churches facilitate single millennials to become committed church members. Single millennials hold a worldview that makes it difficult for them to participate in the local church in the way that the New Testament describes. This worldview or individualism causes millennials to participate in local churches without commitment, and their loose affiliation with the local church is producing spiritual nomads. The New Testament clearly describes the Christian life being lived within the bounds of committed membership in the local church. This paper evaluates the renditions of Psalms 1 and 2, Timothy 2:17 in the GNB, NIV, NLT, NKJV, NASB, and ESV. The introduction determines the ministry need for such a project. Chapter 1 defines concepts and introduces the Pulpit Suitability test, the measure by which the sample passages are evaluated. Chapter 2 determines the substance, structure, and spirit of the sample passages. The remaining chapters assign a suitability value to each version. Study of mentoring practice, particularly as modeled by Jesus and Paul, revealed the biblical prominence of this leadership development approach. Educational literature review identified the best training principles and practices for adult learners, specifically church planters. Qualitative research interviews were conducted with seminary administrators, field mentors, and mentored seminarians now active in church planting. Field education documents from twelve evangelical seminaries were studied. The content for the Proposed Field Ministries Handbook was provided by an analysis of internal documents, a survey of field leaders, interviews, and correspondence. The project report sets the proposed handbook in its historical, biblical, and organizational contexts, reflecting documentary research, biblical exegesis, and interviews with PBT veterans and representatives from other translation agencies. This study explored how disciples of Jesus Christ from upper-caste Hindu and Jain Gujarati backgrounds (outside India) perceive their experiences of opposition from family and community/caste, resulting in alienation, during the time they were being evangelized. Research combined interviews of Gujarati believers (from the UK and Africa) with interviews of two missionaries. Believers reported receiving little guidance for discussing their journey with family members. Negative reactions came when individuals professed faith in Christ. Intense relational breakdown was short-lived.
