The project director assessed the characteristics of the Adult Ministry team to determine spiritual formation needs.  Subsequently, the project director researched the field of spiritual formation to determine best practices, identifying five domains: corporate, relationship, discipline, gap, and rest domains. It considers how preaching through a framework of substitutionary atonement, can help shape the incorporation of this doctrine into the congregation's life and self-understanding.  The paper uses as a framework the theology of Thomas Torrance, who combines reformed soteriology with patristic Christology to overcome some of the objections to this doctrine.   Exodus 34 and the prologue of John's Gospel form the biblical basis for this approach to substitutionary atonement. The project director will research the field of church revitalization to determine the best practices for developing a revitalization strategy, then the project director will train the church council and other leaders to develop a revitalization strategy.  The project director will present the completed strategy to the church for approval during a business meeting.  Experts in the field of church revitalization will be used to evaluate the process and finalized strategy. While the Church is possessed of rich foundational resources capable of providing bioethical guidance, the data obtained through field research suggests that clergy are either unaware of such resources or face difficulties or confusion in locating, interpreting, and applying them. The project director utilized the Transformational Church Assessment Tool and the Prompempo International Church Missions Profile to assess the current health of SURV Church.  A demographic study and interview with a Missions organization helped determine a wellness baseline.  The director studied the Bible, theological resources, and other healthy church practices to determine healthy indicators and best practices.  The project director developed a health strategy with the support of church members input. IN phase two, the project director researched the area of spiritual formation to discover core practices.  He then compiled a report of best practices for spiriutal formation.  The project director began phase three by constructing a strategy deelopment plan.  Then he assembled a strategy team.  Utilizing the profile data and best practice report, the strategy team developed a spiritula formation strategy for summer staff. Statistics tell us that the vast majority of incarcerated men will be divorced either while they are in prison, or within the first year after their release.  The marital issues inmates face often are the same mindset that led to theri criminal thinking and ultimate incarceration.  Thus, if the project director can assist the men in divorce recovery, he can also assist them in becoming productive members of society who are equipped to live healthy lives.
