Through the process of mediation, stereotyped images of who victim and offenders are will be broken down; mutual agreement as what should be done about the offense can be reached; and reconciliation can occur. To prepare for the seminar the author developed a Christian anthropology, researched the subject of stress and prepared seminar materials. After conducting it, he reviewed his findings with professionals from various disciplines and refined the process in further offerings.  Although the evaluations were not scientifically conclusive, participants in the seminars were very appreciative. A randomly selected list of 200 ministerial families was devised for the mailing of the questionnaire, using the listing in the Yearbook of the Church of God...1979. Forty ministers and forty three ministers' wives completed the survey questionnaire. This process involves a survey of the congregational needs and biblical sermons on the teaching of Jesus concerning discipleship.  It includes insights from various books on discipleship plus reports and evaluation of field trips to three churches with significant ministries. Deacons need to be trained and equipped for ministry through a diaconate that is seen as the worshipping and serving core of the church. The koinonia of the diaconate through their prayer life, study, and learning together; and their commitment to the ministry of Jesus Christ in the church and through their own lives will begin a process of renewal for the church. They will, in effect, become salt, light, and leaven for the church. The theoretical framework investigates the biblical, historical, and theological science fields, documented by the library survey approach. The technical framework includes communication theory, fundamentals of effective letter-writing, precautions, and use of blessings in letters.  A practical guide (manual), including over 20 actual pastoral epistles, merges the perceptions from the theoretical and technical rationales.  Evaluations of the manual by a panel of United Methodist clergy are reported.
