This thesis-project not only affirms this position but offers a stewardship plan to undergird such a ministry.  The project asserts that black Americans whose ties are to both the First World and the Third World could best spearhead such a ministry through the church using a praxis suggested by the Home Missions Movement in America. Utilizing the objectives design method, a curriculum encompassing a stewardship plan with a global perspective was presented to and ratified by participants. The curriculum contains objectives, a syllabus, and thirty lesson outlines which make extensive use of adult education techniques.  Two pastors, two missions professors, and two mission executives evaluated the curriculum. This study concerns itself with the historical background of the country, the mission agencies, and the evolutionary process that brought us to where we are today.  This relationship, i.e., three mission agencies associated with one national church, suggests itself as a model for others to consider.  Although it is not without its flaws, it continues to serve as an acceptable vehicle for evangelization. Other models of a partnership nature are considered for comparison.  Certain cultural factors in the development of leadership styles are looked at. For these gifts to be effectively utilized in service, the church itself must be structured for employing the spiritual gifts of members.  I drafted a theology of spiritual gifts and a philosophy of ministry regarding spiritual gifts.  I guided the church leadership in drafting an official church position regarding the operation of spiritual gifts within the congregation.  In addition, job descriptions were drafted.  A series of sermons was designed to assist the church in understanding spiritual gifts and discovering gifts each possessed. A written survey of other pastors was conducted.  Through this instrument I sought the experiences and suggestions of those leading similar churches in New Jersey.
