The stated purpose of the project proposal was: to develop a ministry to families that will facilitate storytelling by families and individual family members.  The report describes how one congregation through a ministry of listening, assisted people in rediscovering and reclaiming their stories.  Leis, the author, assumes that the church has been called by God to be a seedbed and spawning ground for stories. This project was given theological and biblical impetus through the study of I Corinthians 12. Fifteen pastors and twenty-eight parishioners were interviewed concerning pastoral visitation.  There are biblical and historical reasons for the pastor to visit parishioners to share the Christian faith and to give spiritual guidance.  The majority of the pastors interviewed visit in hospitals and homes where there is illness or crisis, but not routinely all parishioners.  Parishioners want this pastor to visit them regularly, but by appointment.  They want the visit to be social. A system for planning ministry was developed with twelve lay persons in a suburban Protestant congregation of 1,400 members.  This system included a parish vision and mission statement, a nine step planning guide for program groups and a method for program evaluation. Current needs and practices within the Baltimore and Peninsula Annual Conferences (Washington area) of the United Methodist Church are investigated. The investigative research for the study was obtained through the use of field interviews and two direct mail surveys. The field research survey questionnaires were mailed to clergy and their spouses who had relocated with the Baltimore and Peninisula Conferences within a four year period.  Findings are presented and evaluated. The methodology involves the use of relevant literature, personal and professional experience of the author, and a questionnaire given to twenty-five seminarians.  With the assault on the outdated model for relationships of the dominant-superior 'partner' and a submissive-inferior 'non-person,' it is imperative to develop models and guidelines for doing ministry with straight, white, North American males.  The project discusses three retreat models and a mid-life counseling method with such males. Included in this report is a comparison of patients receiving hopsice care as against those receiving traditional care. The author and ten women used two sections of the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius of Loyola to provide the framework for Christian decision making in developing such a process.  With Mary Magdalene as role model, they researched the needs of women through study, dialogue and personal experience and produced a written guide.
