This project combines the methods of acting that have built on the foundation laid by Constatine Stanislavsky in the early 20th century, and the basic research methods currently taught in seminary education. This project will show how these areas of study overlap with one another. At the same time, performative preparation methods can inform sermon preparation methods to help preachers create sermons that are more inspirational and truthful in their communication. A study of the literature ad resources published by acting teachers and performing preaching professors are in conversation with one another throughout this project. From this conversation a syllabus and workshops can be found in the Appendix to provide a variety of ways to share and apply the results of this project in academic and continuing education forums for students and pastors. Homiletics professor and perfomative method advocate Richard Ward was interviewed. Muslim attitudes toward Christianity are analyzed as expressed in the literature of the period and in a field study conducted in 2011-2012. The theme of God's saving victory is identified as an aid in helping Muslims understand the Bible. Jesus' person and work are explained in terms that are more comprehensible to Muslims. Muslim attitudes toward Egypt's Christians are explored. The theological rationale focuses on the nature of the church as old and new and the congregation as a complex family system. The literature review focuses on congregational culture, a survey of the transitional leaders' attributes and actions, and an understanding of the learning organization.  A comparison of one congregation's historic vs. current leadership culture, by means of group interviews and surveys, was conducted so as to understand the trajectory of its leadership culture. The author used action research to study: (1) the initial intercultural competence among campus staff (2) training elements appropriate for the group and purpose (3) changes after training and (4) evidence of the training model's effectiveness. Data collection included pre-training Intercultural Development Inventory [registered symbol] assessments and post-training survey. The objective was to develop a deeper personal relationship with God and one another by becoming more attentive to God. The team was guided through one action research cycle using the spiritual practices of silence and solitude, reflection and journaling, prayer and Lectio Divina for twenty weeks. Data was gathered through written narratives and group interviews and analyzed by qualitative methods. The research indicated that through intentional fostering of individual intimacy with God, an ardent team emerged to corporately provide more discerning spiritual leadership. The Missional Change Model (MCM), developed by Alan Roxburgh and Fred Romanuk (2006), was used as a guide to that process. The MCM is designed to assist a congregation in implementing change. To determine missional readiness at Victoria United, congregational 360 and pastor/leader 360 assessments were completed. The implementation of the MCM occurred over an eight month period. To tap that potential we must listen to the wise voices of those have served before us and to the Holy Spirit that leads us into transformative relationships. This project explores the works of several researchers and scholars who identify the potential outcomes of service-learning and short-term mission, and those interested in the transformational effects of such experiences.
