The interview questions focused on signs of initiative, insight, and spiritual growth occurring during the pastor's 4-month sabbatical.  The exercise did not produce a clear articulation of the parish's mission priorities. The literature review, interviews, and focus group revealed shifts: in understanding the Trinity more relationally than judicially; in choosing to follow Jesus because of kingdom vision more than need of salvation; in shaping more through group manuscript Bible study than through a daily quiet time alone with God. Training included six instructional sessions that lasted one and a half hours each. The sessions were taught from the text of Matthew 4:18-20; 1 Corinthians 12:4-6; 2 Timothy 2:1-7; Ephesians 4:29-32; John 15:5-8; and Matthew 9:16-17.  The sessions were presented in one-week intervals with assignments to personally apply the content between sessions. The six sessions included a common purpose, clear role expectations, solid relationships, team processes, leadership, and communication. The goals of this project were as follows: to research team building leadership skills in order to develop teaching plans to equip the staff in team ministry, to develop teaching plans in order to equip the staff in team building leadership skills, and to equip the staff to practice team building leadership skills. The professional goals of this project were to increase the project director's knowledge of team building leadership skills, and to increase the project director's skill in curriculum design. The result of the research is that TITIP is a promising and effective program that achieves most of its objectives and in general adheres to good principles of teaching.The strength of the program lies especially in its spiritual formation and in its teaching of English. Factors that make the program effective include: native speakers of English as teachers, a student-oriented and interactive teaching style, dormitory living, staff are good models of Christian maturity and servant leadership, the practice of a variety of spiritual disciplines, punctuality, and critical thinking skills. The main concern about the TITIP program is that while providing a holistic training program there seems to be a lack of focus. The two objectives of TITIP are to prepare young Papuans for advanced study domestically and abroad, and at the same time to provide opportunities for preparing them to be 'change agents' and leaders in their own Papuan communities. Questionnaires were administered and interviews conducted with reserve chaplains and congregations that have already experienced a mobilization and had a mobilization agreement. The project is a study of congregational approaches and strategies for ministry to inactives. The research portion of the project included a survey of large rural congregations regarding their approach to inactive members. A follow-up interview was conducted with pastors of selected congregations that participated in the survey. This research, along with the literature review, informed the recommendations for a comprehensive approach for Christian caregiving of inactives in a large, rural congregation. Circles, a program of Move the Mountain, initiates changes in the community that result in eliminating barriers to economic stability. The Circles model partners families in poverty with United Methodist church members so they can work together to end poverty. This project compares the socio-economic condition of the families in poverty prior to enrollment and six months later. Issues addressed in the project include: 1) whether members of the local congregation have a clear understanding of the relationship between the sacrament of Holy Communion and the mission of the church, 2) whether a more complete knowledge and understanding of Holy Communion has an impact upon their perception of the church's mission, and 3) whether the way in which Holy Communion is practiced influences the way in which they attempt to fulfill the mission of the church. This project helps leaders to serve the Lord in faith and good courage while helping them avoid the spiritual dangers of serving self and the powers of darkness in meetings. The focus of this effort is on the moments following alarm or the awareness of stress that is being generated by one's heart. The researcher trained the five men and nine women of the Parish Planning Council on three theological foci: a theology of thinking in crisis, a theology of worship in service, and a theology of leadership in suffering. Each of these monthly sessions was reinforced by a weekly Bible study and a monthly opportunity for a one-on-one meeting where applications of the Alarm Model were made to current issues.
