The research question was: What is the transformation that has occurred in the lives of twenty-seven participating pastors? A questionnaire using open-ended and closed questions was developed to discover the degree to which pastors were transformed. Using a qualitative case study method, observations from the wight men were presented in a conversational sequence, and then analyzed for significant themes that were unique to the discipleship experience. The means to spiritual growth were identified, as were the hindrances to spiritual growth. There were three main steps in reaching this goal: the exegesis of biblical principles to find the model of Jesus' incarnational ministry, the exegesis of the Thai Buddhist context, and the development of a Thai contextualized model for building an effective ministry. The findings from field studies supported the library research about the belief system of the Thai Buddhist students and their value orientations. A questionnaire distributed to these chaplains recorded the effectiveness of the self-care program upon their emotional, behavioral, and spiritual resiliency. The project revealed that the self-care program had a positive effect on their behavior and emotional resiliency, and some impact on their spiritual resiliency. A qualitative phenomenological research design was employed. The author utilized an interview protocol based on identified stressors cited in previous research. Seven major stressors were noted by participants with safety concerns, absence of field-specific training, and cross-cultural conflict being the most prominent. Three categories of stressors emerged: individual stress, cross-cultural stress, and professional stress. The study employed qualitative and quantitative methods via surveys and interviews of missionaries, church leaders, and lay members within the EMC. The study determined that there has been a decline with multiple mitigating factors. This project sought to increase the effectiveness of teaching and preaching Hebrew narratives in the local church via a five week seminar to equip participants in discovering the central thrust of Old Testament narratives. Goals and objectives were established, relevant data gathered, analyzed from volunteers. An analysis of the data revealed notable improvements in the participants' overall effectiveness in teaching narrative.
