The sermons tested strategies for preaching three aspects of God's reign: kingdom present, kingdom challenge and kingdom hope. The metanarrative of the kingdom holds potential for bringing together false divisions that have developed in the church. Such missional preaching will be effective in forming counter-cultural communities of resistance which participate in the work of God."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["d722638c-a7e2-43f3-93ff-4762bde0dde7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133552799121408,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:21:06.558Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:25:12Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:51:17Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"95bdfdb5-ce43-49df-a6df-1907ef2a0178","accessControl_ssim":["9548ed0b-3446-459d-b83a-d8583ae01baf"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Addressing local poverty through the establishment of a mission cell ministry at Rock Creek Baptist Church, Nashville, North Carolina"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:25:11Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:30:58Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["b4d150cb-7f65-46d4-97bb-983a000a6cf3"],"hasLease_ssim":["5a1e4e95-86c0-4e1d-8863-e5fa903bd9cf"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Samford University"],"advisor_tesim":["Kurt D Selles"],"year_tesim":["2010"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["T Blake Dempsey"],"publisher_tesim":["Samford University"],"subject_tesim":["Rock Creek Baptist Church (Nashville, NC)","Poor and the church","Church work with the poor"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Ministry with people in or at risk for poverty is an integral facet both of an individual's spiritual formation and the church's faithfulness in its community. This thesis/project explores how pastors can help congregation members link their stories to the Biblical narrative so that they can deal more effectively with these issues. Using an ethnographic research method, interviews with twenty older adults were used as the foundation for refining the integration of grief and loss to the Biblical narrative.
