Questionnaires were sent to all 43 congregations, and all were returned.  Data was also collected from the 1997 PCA Yearbook.  The churches were then ranked, and five each were selected from the top, middle, and bottom third, and their pastors interviewed concerning the missions giving of their congregations. Through interviews of congregational leaders and randomly selected members, the researcher assessed the pre-decision knowledge and attitude of the members concerning the topic. A presentation on the topic was then prepared and presented to the congregation. Following the decision, those members involved were questioned as to what factors contributed to their decision. The first session contained the biblical and theological rationale for goal setting and planning.  Sessions two and three explored definitions, key principles, and processes of goal setting.  Session four examined planning programs and events from stated goals.  Session five included an explanation of the purpose statement of Woodridge Baptist Church from the pastor and participants who write actual goals for their ministry area. A witness workshop was developed and presented which enabled the participants to be equipped to engage in both of the above activities. A series of three questionnaires shaped the materials which were used in the witness workshop. The second questionnaire indicated if the goals of the workshop has been accomplished. Part of the analysis is based on a personal journal kept by the author over a period of 35 weeks.  Other analysis is based upon data collected from 48 randomly chosen students at Bible Teachers Institute in Virginia Beach, Virginia.  They were asked to complete a two-part survey on their practice and perception of fasting.
