The thesis begins by surveying the congregation to learn about their three greatest personal crises.  Thirteen messages were delivered on Sunday mornings to address these crises.  Detailed fill-in-the-blank sermon notes were included in each Sunday's bulletin.  These inserts were accumulated into a resource booklet after the project as a quick reference tool to assist the congregation in caring for their neighbours, family and friends during a future crisis. The study begins by laying down vital theological and biblical principles. Pertinent Christian and secular literature will be reviewed to discover what is known about the principles and practices common to all selection processes and those dynamics which would be uniquely oriented for associate pastor hiring. This thesis continues by exploring the issues of: ministerial portfolio presentation; candidate profiling; ministry marketing; assessment strategy; and the legal, ethical and financial considerations in quality hiring. A questionnaire will be utilized to survey senior pastors to discover how they approach the entire process of associate pastoral candidates. A primary premise of the work is that the reason for the 'silent exodus' that many Korean-American churches are currently experiencing shares remarkable similarities with postmodern emphasis on rejection of any metanarrative. The author suggests that this rejection of metanarrative is partly responsible for the 'silent exodus.' During its 30 years of existence the church has received into fellowship only five individuals from the unchurched population. This project indicates that the church can be more effective in its outreach to the unchurched by developing multi-facit and contextualized ministries. The instrument used to collect data for the study are questionnaires, observation and interviews. The study reveals the following dynamics to be contributors to the church's inability to effectiveley minister to the unchurched: inadequate laity participation, ambiguity of mission and vision, outdated evangelistic methodology, under funded outreach ministry, insufficuent contextualized ministry and extremely low church involvement in the community. The fast growth of churches in this country has demonstrated the need for training senior and executive pastors. There are currently no programs to prepare church administrators in Ukraine. The purpose of this thesis is to develop and test the beginning of a graduate program entitled 'Masters of Church Administration.' May this work motivate Ukranian pastors to build a good team of leaders for their church or for any other non-profit ministry! Data was collected by researching biblical, historical, theological, and secular literature on discipleship and mentorship. A quantitative and a qualitative study showed a definite correlation exists between perceived effectiveness of the curriculum and the students' perceptions of their teachers' performances. The author first clarifies what addiction is, explores why it is intensifying, and explains how this intensification affects pastoral work. In the second chapter, relevant literature is examined from the twelve-step movement, the helping professions and pastoral writers -- locating a core of tested wisdom pastors can utilize.
